Anthology Film Archives is showing all of Sara Driver's films, beginning this Friday. All of them have been long out-of-print and championed by various filmmakers and critics, including Jonathan Rosenbaum.

Sleepwalk is one of the great films of the 1980s. And it's written by Kathleen Brennan (aka. Mrs. Tom Waits), proving that her husband alone isn't responsible for all the esoteric weirdness on their albums.

If you can see it, do.

FWIW, she's going to be at a couple of screenings, and for the features, they're screening 35mm prints too.

Great retrospective - Driver, Fletcher and others involved with the films also made appearances, and they were very nice. I think the sensibility of her work sits somewhere between David Lynch and Aki Kaurismäki, just wonderful. Hope the rest of you outside of NY can catch the DVD set when it's released - it retails for $25 at Amazon and it's worth it for You Are Not I alone.

A number of international directors are coming together to helm segments of an animated folk tale anthology called Tales from the Hanging Head. Filmmaker Sara Driver spilled the details on the project, revealing that she’ll be directing a story alongside Alfonso Cuaron, Michel Gondry, Marjane Satrapi, and Emir Kusturica. It’s a series of folk tales for children, linked together by the common thread of metamorphosis. Hit the jump for more.
