Don't get too excited: this new box set merely repackages three existing Second Run titles. But if you've missed Intimate Lighting, Diamonds of the Night and The Cremator thus far, this is your chance to nab them for a knock-down price.

Second Run's newsletter says:
Following the success of our earlier Box Set releases, we'd like to announce this month that our next release will be The Czechoslovak New Wave - A Collection. This 3-DVD Box Set will feature three extraordinary features from a golden age of Eastern European cinema which came to be known as the 'Czechoslovak New Wave'. This specially-priced Box Set will include Ivan Passer's wonderfully wry and heartfelt Intimate Lighting, Jan Nemec's tense and startlingly original debut Diamonds of the Night and Juraj Herz's pitch-black comedy of horrors The Cremator. We hope that this set will encourage those who have not yet experienced the joys of Czechoslovak cinema to experience them for the first time. These three integral features from the most creative period of Czechoslovak cinema were made in the most difficult of times under the gaze of Government censors, yet achieved a miraculous marriage of content and form despite the most oppressive circumstances. The Czechoslovak New Wave - A Collection will be released on November 26.

Illuminazione intima is wonderfully mellifluous - for my money a distinct advance on both Intimate Lighting and Intimní osvětlení.
