Understandably so considering the article is a decade off in describing when the color timing of ERASERHEAD took place. All the same, it sure would be nice to have a new Lynch feature; even if he shoots it on something like the relatively inexpensive Canon EOS 5D Mark II, it will look a lot better than INLAND EMPIRE.

To be fair, it's a blog post and that's probably just a typo for 1976. The film premiered in early '77, so I would guess a print was made the year before.

All the same, it sure would be nice to have a new Lynch feature; even if he shoots it on something like the relatively inexpensive Canon EOS 5D Mark II, it will look a lot better than INLAND EMPIRE.

Lynch seems to have stuck with the PD-150 for a pretty long time -- Lady Blue Shanghai looks like the same camera, and that was made only a couple of years ago. The "Crazy Clown Time" video from earlier this year was some sort of HD, but if this hypothetical new feature is made in the same extended, piecemeal manner as Inland Empire, who knows what it'll look like.

So, a once-great publisher, Vintage, has found its new bestselling franchise by drawing upon fan-fiction and Literotica-porn-type writing because so many readers are bored with the other formulas that used to work. And porn producers reciprocally reach into mainstream franchises to try to attract attention to a glut of superfluous, formulaic product that people are bored with and have no real desire to pay anything for. (Similar to how one of the highest-profile porn franchises ever rode into success on the strength of the Pirates of the Caribbean craze, at the same time Disney was running the franchise into the ground with ridiculously expensive but poor sequels.) The porn side of it is neither surprising nor lamentable, but it's troubling to see large publishers continue to dominate the business as they descend into a self-swallowing cultural void, and how many film producers are eager to follow them into it, with most of the major studios outbidding each other for the adaptation rights.

It was up on his IMDB as recent as a few months ago. I guess it wasn't official until now.

The article mentions that Disney indeed cancelled plans to do the YELLOW SUBMARINE remake after MARS NEEDS MOMS failed, but apparently Zemeckis thought he could get backing somewhere else. He has now publicly announced he will not pursue the project. Good idea!

Not sure if he intended to [or actually did] break this news, as I've heard unconfirmed rumblings about this in the past, but, from Roger Ebert's blog:

Looking at his IMDb entry, I find that Tarantino has a film in pre-production that will be some kind of retread of Russ Meyer's Faster, Pussycat! Kill! Kill! That's the film John Waters has described as "not only the greatest film ever made, but the greatest film that ever will be made." For Tarantino, the lure of the title alone must have been irresistible, a tug in the back of his mind from those long-ago video store days.

There is a version of IMDb for industry folks, etc that includes films very early in preproduction that have yet to be formally announced by the studio - I'm assuming this is what Ebert's got access to, because I don't see it listed on the standard IMDb site. But there have been rumblings in the past about this possibly happening... this just makes it seem all the more likely that it's what we're going to see next from Tarantino. So. Passing it along.

I must have missed that portion, I just expanded the "Director" area, which very speciously has Kill Bill Volume 3 listed, even though that's far more speculative than this one

Any Tarantino project is suspect as hype until a formal announcement was made. The project was certainly a curious one when it was suggested a few years back (I remember Britney Spears and pornstar Tera Patrick were the names being volleyed about).

Nope, but there are rumours that Criterion are prepping it I don't believe.

"Come Drink With Me" sounds interesting since it suggests it might have something to do with the King Hu film of the same name.

The Arrow DVD is acceptable and, while PAL, not region-coded. Don't bother with the available R1 version released by Meyer's company; you might as well watch it on YouTube.

Ugh, crushing disappointment. You mean to say "New film starring Jerry Lewis shooting this week."

Yeah it's hugely disappointing that it isn't him or someone who suits his persona in an interesting manner (imagine Lewis is a Wes Anderson picture) but at least it's something.
