So, the Globes gives Mad Men Best Drama three times and then this year (arguably the show's best season yet) it's not even nominated? But The Newsroom is?

And "Smash" but not "Louie," Parks & Rec," or even "30 Rock?" It's like they're not even playing by their own ridiculous rules.

The only person on earth that thought The Newsroom was better than Mad Men this year is domino harvey - the fix is in at the Globes

I told them "Give me this, and you can nominate Nicole Kidman for the Paperboy"

Emmy Nominations announced

Some disappointments-- Enlightened for Best Actress and Guest Star only, the Americans for Guest Star only, nothing for Justified or Happy Endings-- and some highlights-- I'm still not a Breaking Bad fan but nominating the actor behind the best character on the show, Jonathan Banks, was a great call, as was Emilia Clarke's nomination for Game of Thrones. And of course they nominated that episode for Best Writing, to the surprise of no one!

How does Parker Posey not get nominated for Oustanding Guest Actress in a Comedy Series for her stint as Liz on "Louie?" Of all the snubs this year, that one seems criminal. The episodes she was in got writing and directing noms.

I know everyone has their own personal favorites, but I'm stunned that both Hannibal and The Americans were virtual shut-outs. They were by far the most assured and accomplished first seasons I've seen in a long while, and both deserved more recognition.

* Edited to note that Rectify deserved some lovin' as well.

It would have been nice to at least seen Peter Medak get a nomination.

I don't think there were any huge snubs. You can make an argument for a few here or there but overall the Emmy nominations are spot on. If only the Academy came so close to getting it right.

Bob Newhart just won his first Emmy, which is good, even if it was for the Big Bang Theory
