John Frankenheimer directs Rock Hudson as a second: that is, the newly plastic-surgery altered reboot of, in this instance, a listless banker named Arthur Hamilton. Such procedures are carried out by a secret organization known only as The Company, with the promise of giving an individual a chance at making a fresh start at life... but at what cost?

Master lighting cameraman James Wong Howe provides the paranoiac atmosphere to the skewed reality of what came to be widely considered one of Frankenheimer's very best films. The Masters of Cinema Series is proud to present Seconds on Blu-ray and DVD in the UK for the first time.

Excellent! Was hoping they'd pick this one up...and was anticipating one or two upcoming titles. Wonder if this will be a September or October title.

Anyway, great stuff - more Frankenheimer! I thought Arrow might release another after The Manchurian Candidate and The Train, but glad to see Eureka managed to get hold of one (seeing as they have a Paramount deal...not for much longer though I'm guessing). Fingers crossed for Black Sunday as well (another Paramount title), or one day probably his most notorious: Birdman of Alcatraz.

Right enough the Amazon listing confirms both the Frankenheimer commentary (presumably the same as the Criterion) and the Adrian Martin one. Come on you Martinis razzle-dazzle those pom-poms and shake a tailfeather!
