USA in the 1970s. We follow the highly intelligent Jack over a span of 12 years and are introduced to the murders that define Jack's development as a serial killer. We experience the story from Jack's point of view, while he postulates each murder is an artwork in itself. As the inevitable police intervention is drawing nearer, he is taking greater and greater risks in his attempt to create the ultimate artwork. Along the way we experience Jack's descriptions of his personal condition, problems and thoughts through a recurring conversation with the unknown Verge - a grotesque mixture of sophistry mixed with an almost childlike self-pity and psychopathic explanations. The House That Jack Built is a dark and sinister story, yet presented through a philosophical and occasional humorous tale.

Consider me in. I disliked everything post Dogville but this sounds interesting. Wonder how similar to Angst or Henry it might turn out

Based on the synopsis, it could *almost* pass for a substitute to the never realised *Wasington* and thus completing at long last his "USA - Land of Opportunities" Trilogy.

Which by the way I never could find anything about why it was scrapped and what it was even supposed to be about. Anyone have any details?

This was the only article I could find and this was over four years ago (and, of course, a lot has changed). His intense depressive episode back in the late 2000s may have derailed the project.
My guess was "Wasington" could have been a political critique since Dogville could be seen as an economic critique and Manderlay can be seen as a social critique.

There you go...Ive also heard him mention that he felt he wasnt mature enough to do Wasington. I doubt he will circle around again.

I'm hoping that this is all building to a LvT film with Uma Thurman in the lead.

Even the other cast members in that piece are exciting - Siobhan Fallon Hogan of course has previous form in
leading Selma to her death in Dancer In The Dark, Sofie Gråbøl was the lead in the original Danish version of
The Killing and Riley Keough was recently in both American Honey and Mad Max: Fury Road!

Keough was also terrific on the TV "adaptation" of The Girlfriend Experience.

New Pics
Also an interesting story tidbit: "Jack is trying to create the ultimate art work: A collection of all his killings manifested in a House that he builds."
