Franco will direct and co-produce the book adaptation with his Rabbit Bandini partner Vince Jolivette, and Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s Point Grey Productions. Ryan Moody is writing the script.

Here's hoping Wiseau and Sestero play themselves. If this isn't possible someone like Vincent Cassel should play Wiseau.

A24 has bought the rights to The Disaster Artist, will release it this December.

Well, still not sure whether this'll be a disaster or not. The book was amazing.

That is seriously as perfect a poster as any I've seen in ages: the ill-placed light (evidently lighting the back of his head instead of, you know, his face), the too-low boom (in the shot by the looks of it) the ill-fitting suit, and Franco himself (he even got the weird neck striations). It pretty much sums up everything you need to know about The Room in one image.

I haven't read the book, but loved the film. I saw it at SXSW this year. While it was advertised as a "work-in-progress" screening, the film appeared finished; Franco & Rogen stated they were still calling it "work-in-progress" in case they wanted to change things, but then said based on the audience response, they probably wouldn't have to. I loved it, and so did everyone else I spoke to who saw it; both people who were very familiar with The Room, and people who'd never seen it. It's extremely funny, but can also be surprisingly touching. There are moments where Franco does such a good job channeling Wiseau that I almost started to question if they had actually pulled a switcheroo and had the real Wiseau perform in certain shots; I'm certain they didn't, but it was almost a subconscious reaction to how Franco nailed certain moments.

I don't usually care for the Academy Awards but I'm pulling for this film to get a least 1 nomination so Wiseau can be invited to the Oscars where he will undoubtedly wear a lumpy suit, cargo pants and two belts.

This went over exceedingly well at TIFF last night, and apparently Franco revealed in the Q&A that he directed the entire thing in character. There's some actual Best Actor nomination whispering going on re: Franco.

I've never seen The Room because the persistent hype machine around its existence caught up to me before I ever considered doing so, which sort of turned me off of the idea. But I guess I'll have to if I'm going to see this.

I was very late to the Room party as well, despite being haunted by its ubiquitous midnight screenings and Sunset Boulevard billboard. Finally seeing it, I definitely recognize the camp value, and certain scenes are hilariously inept, but I don't think it has *quite* the otherworldly lunacy of After Last Season

I finally saw this trailer tonight, after having done everything I could to avoid it. All the good moments are just re-creations of moments from The Room or scenes meant to re-create the shooting of moments from The Room. As such, I'm confused; it seems pointless if you've seen The Room, and meaningless if you haven't.
