That's an unfortunate waste of his talent, but I suppose he needs something to make money soon.

Oh... this is real. I thought that teaser trailer was a fake teaser to advertise something else like when Danny McBride did the faux crocidile dundee thing to promote Australian tourism.

From what I've seen so far, I'm willing to give this a chance. I'd even go so far as to say that I'm cautiously optimistic. At least it doesn't look like the complete dumpster fire I originally feared.

The new faces and the setting are promising for doing this in a different but comparable way to the original.

I suspect this will be borne out by the trailer tomorrow, but based on the stills, posters, and even at least one of the casting choices, this looks like it's trying to be a Stranger Things-type nostalgia experience, which is appropriately full circle given Stranger Things' own indebtedness to the source

Tbh that’s a much better idea than the Paul Feig take.

It looks like it has a serious tone...the trailer.

For whom? Spicy prediction: This will make less money than the Feig, because they're both films that nobody asked for and nobody wanted, but this is the second film that nobody asked for and nobody wanted.

I imagine Aykroyd, Weaver, Murray and Ernie Hudson all returning will bring in at least some people. No doubt they'll play up how much this isn't Paul Feig's version too. Can't say I disagree here unfortunately.

I actually like the Feige version. I most of all like Wiig's beautiful performance - she remains one of our most compelling comedic actors. I liked the music too though I was put off by the big blockbuster CGI climax. I would have liked a smaller more intimate movie with smaller stakes. Not interested in another OMG the world is ending climax. We see that in every superhero movie ever.

I have not seen all of the the female version, but it was quite good from I saw. I’d take it over the sequel any day. Having not seen Stranger Things, I think I follow the comparison some have made.Yet, I would be shocked if this is not eagerly anticipated.

If anything I’m looking forward to another Dan Akroyd performance.

2 wasn't terrible, but almost completely unmemorable as far as jokes. My brother is a GB fan and I loved Back To The Future. I conceed to him his favorite had better jokes while mine was better structurally as a comedy.

An Aykroyd renaissance would be great. I don't know when this opens but I wonder who will appear at all on SNL to promote it.

Sony is grasping at straws a bit for trying to come up with a franchise that isn't tethered to Marvel, especially now that the Bond franchise is with Universal. That was the case for the previous movie, and more recently with the Charlie's Angels reboot that nobody really asked for at all. This could be a small hit but not what they really need.

It looks okay, but as with all teasers it's sometimes a fool's game to make solid predictions on it. Jason hasn't made anything remotely interesting to me since Young Adult, so maybe this is what he could need to recharge the batteries. Something with the same level of quality of comedy like YA, Up In The Air, Juno or Thank You For Smoking but done on a larger scale would be certainly interesting to watch.

I'll confess: I'm excited by this, sorry. Didn't ask for this but I'll happily go see it. At the end of the day, I am sadly the dude pushing middle age who's more than happy to hand Disney Star Wars/Indiana Jones/Villeneuve Blade Runner/Stranger Things/JJTrek/ShowtimeTwinPeaks my money to try and sell happy warm feelings from my youth back to me as long as it's done with some degree of nuance and surprise. Add to that the fact that I think Jason Reitman is a good director who's made good or very good films and it's an easy decision.

Watched the trailer, and I'm very glad to see that if there are ghosts that need to be busted on the old Days of Heaven set, they're being taken care of

Right? So much of the trailer is just shots of the original's car driving in broad daylight. Interesting choice for a movie about ghosts.

I know far less about these films than most people, but wasn't the whole idea of the original just having a template on which to put a bunch of funny people riffing through over-the-top, fantastical situations? Where is any of the soul of the Ramis here?

Having no emotional investment in the originals, I find this new direction with completely different setting to be a lot more enticing than any potential attempts of just rebooting the franchise with old formula.

Didn’t we get that with the Feig version?

Pedantic time, but Reitman and not Ramis directed the OGs. Ramis was just an actor.
