Directed by none other than Fred Durst, of Limp Bizkit fame.

Imagine if wearing a blocky red baseball cap went back to meaning you were emulating Fred Durst

And here I had my fingers crossed that Lady Bird meant we were leapfrogging late-90s nostalgia entirely to get to those sweet, sweet garage revival years. Alas...

Apparently Durst also directed a few eHarmony commercials, if someone wants to dig them up for the Commercials thread.

That trailer evokes Misery in more ways than one.

Do you think someone told Fred Durst he would be as talented a director as he is a musician and he just didn’t get what they were saying?

John Travolta told Durst he was the artistic spokesperson of his generation.

True story.

Limp Bizket’s Fred Durst Pitched John Travolta ‘The Fanatic’ 15 Years Ago

"Bizket"
One of the greatest bands of our lifetime—how can they misspell it?

Yep, that’s not even close to how you spell Insane Clown Posse

His clout in Hollywood has been as frustrating a mystery as his success as a "musician". What I really want to know is how he got to be so friendly with David Fincher, that he actually appears in a scene that was shot for Zodiac (but never used, in either version). More substantial I actually heard that it was Jesse Eisenberg's performance in Durst's first film The Education of Charlie Banks, that convinced Fincher to look at him for The Social Network.

Fincher was a music video director, it's absolutely possible they ran in similar circles and that Durst is just a friendly guy

I recall David Fincher replacing Fred Durst back in 03. He was set to direct Lords of Dogtown as his debut, which had interested me. David Fincher also apparently got close enough to directing that he'd begun having sets built. And then Fincher walked off the movie for some reason. (Leading to Catherine Hardwicke) Obviously Fred Durst (as a director) became a bit less interesting to me when he made The Longshots.

Mr.Travolta is a dye in the wool Bizkit fan. Everything all makes sense in this world now.

This is one of the most sidesplitting acts of cinematic hubris since The Room, the equivalent of a four-year-old pointing into the potty with a big grin on his face. It's like Ben Stiller's Simple Jack movie from Tropic Thunder played completely straight, and all the funnier for it. Was Travolta playing some Andy Kaufman-esque joke here? Because if he intended this to be some artistic, impassioned look at Toxic Fandom taken too far, it's one of the most catastrophic and laughable failures of the year. But it's so goddamn funny I can't be that mad at it (it's an easier sit that something portentously leaden and inert like The Lighthouse). Free on Amazon Prime for the curious.

I believe I've seen it on Netflix (Canada) too while browsing.
