Not sure why this trailer has such a serious tone, hopefully the whole movie isn’t like that. Whoever is doing Chevy Chase is great, though

Serious yes, but also seriously tense. Wikipedia describes it as a comedy-thriller, and the runtime is 90 minutes. Applying the cliches of a ticking clock movie to this story and these personalities could make for something good I think.

I was ready to write this one off but I am now intrigued at this. Hopefully a return to form for Reitman.

(without having seen his Ghostbusters which I’m sure is awful)

I genuinely think Reitman has only made good films and it’s a travesty that he’s been in director jail for so long.

That was apparently Matthew Rhys from the Americans as Carlin, btw - completely unrecognizable, he pulled off one more disguise!

<crosses fingers they've worked in a fictional (non-toxicological) backstage serial killer>

Would be down for a Garrett Morris biopic starring Lamorne Morris, who is doomed to be underutilized here.

He took some swings. I definitely expected Tully to connect with more people

I only saw the Ghostbusters that he only wrote/produced and it is indeed awful, but it's not worse than Men, Women & Children which might be worthy of actual jail, let alone fake jail that he easily got out of by making his dad's franchise slop. This looks much better than I had it in my mind it would (Birdman-adjacent in hopefully the good ways), but I don't know that it'll ever be close to as funny as Ansel Elgort muttering "I don't like football, I like Guild Wars!!!".

Cory Michael Smith, who's also great in a surprisingly similar mode in May December.

My parents both worked at Lennox-Hill Hospital in Manhattan during the tail end of the initial 5 year run. A physician colleague of theirs was secretly taking out drugs from their pharmacy and selling it to the staff of the show. While watching it one night, they noticed said individual in a walk-on role. My mother congratulated him on his appearance, he played mum and scurried off.

Honestly, a film about Michael O’Donoghue would be far, far more interesting than this. He’s the one who got people like William S. Burroughs to appear on SNL and hired Terry Southern to write on it. He also co-wrote what is arguably the first American graphic novel, The Adventures of Phoebe Zeit-Geist

Apparently Nicholas Braun is playing both Jim Henson and Andy Kaufman.
