Shyam Benegal's film (his fourth feature, if I am not mistaken) is Second Run's October 2025 release.
• Manthan (1976) presented from the new 4K restoration by Film Heritage Foundation.
• Manthan Reborn: A film on the history and restoration of the film, including footage from the 2024 Indian premiere, and an interview with the late director Shyam Benegal.
• Manthan at Cannes 2024: Film Heritage Foundation founder Shivendra Singh Dungarpur and actor Naseeruddin Shah interviewed by broadcaster Anupama Chopra.
• Booklet with new writing by author and film scholar Dr Omar Ahmed, plus Shivendra Singh Dungarpur and director Shyam Benegal on the film and the restoration.
• New English subtitle translation.
• Region free Blu-ray (A/B/C).
• World premiere release on Blu-ray.

Second Run is really finding an avenue with Indian cinema, I'm enjoying this. their range of titles is incredible without ever losing that great curation

Don't know if it is curation so much as a willingness to release the titles the Film Heritage Foundation has restored? (Which is appreciated, of course.) As I wondered in the general SR thread, this title may only be an option because the rights were more readily available. (It was funded by a farmers’ dairy cooperative.) It's the third film in what's known as his rural trilogy; it's a thematic trilogy, and you don't need to have seen the others to appreciate this one, but it seems less likely they'd wrest
Ankur from Shemaroo. Though I wish they could.

Their older DVDs include Adoor Gopalakrishnan's
Elippathayam and
Kathapurushan, plus the documentaries
Jang aur Aman (Anand Patwardhan) and
Celluloid Man (Shivendra Singh Dungarpur).
After the blu-ray release of Shivendra Singh Dungarpur's
CzechMate – In Search of Jiří Menzel, all announced projects have come by way of the Film Heritage Foundation and only Aravindan Govindan's
Thampu has been released so far. FHF
announced SR will be releasing Girish Kasaravalli's
Ghatashraddha in addition to
Manthan.
