My second favorite Miike project (after 4.6 Billion Years of Love) was released in 2000, I believe - MPD Psycho, a series in 6 episodes. Please add, if eligible. Thanks.

Added, and it's probably worth noting that this is the year when Audition is eligible

Thanks for the reminder. I'll vote for Audition, but MPD Psycho is the much wilder ride. Highly recommended to those who like Miike in his crazy artistic mode. Serial killer detective story slash conspiracy fantasy with hints of Stepford Kids x All About Lily Chou-chou. And blobs of green (acid ?) rain.

Great year for movies, but impossible to top Esther Kahn for me

Jonas Mekas' As I Was Moving Ahead Occasionally I Saw Brief Glimpses of Beauty is one of my very favorite films. I highly recommend spending the five and a half hours to watch a life unfold before your eyes

Could you please add these couple of Aussie films?

Mr. Accident by Yahoo Serious -- this is a such a wondrous blast of mayhem and very Tashlinesque as Adrian Martin called it

Cut by Kimble Rendall -- meta-slasher with Molly Ringwald and Kylie Minogue that's basically the Aussie version of Scream 3

one of my 2026 resolutions was to get back to writing in the threads, something I didn't do at all in 2025 (it was a wacky, busy year for me) so I'm posting here to remind myself to do so, especially since 2000 has some seriously big hitters for me

Definitely in my top 10 will be Liv Ullman's Faithless, the greatest Bergman film he never made (it's his screenplay). Now finally available in a decent edition thanks to the bfi.

These register 2000 on Imdb & am not seeing:
Benjamin Smoke
Edge Of Seventeen
Keep The River On Your Right
Water Drops On Burning Rocks

I see Krapp's Last Tape (Egoyan) from the Becket on Film box (my favorite of the bunch & will definitely be on my list),
but I don't see my next favorites:
What Where
Rough For Theatre 2

I put Edge of Seventeen in 1998 when you brought it up a few months ago. And the Ozon was already on the list. I've added the rest

Thanks, I thought it came up before, but I only checked 1999 for the ones I didn't see.

Actually I forgot my second favorite of the Beckett on film series which I also might vote for: Endgame.

Here's the complete list of the 10 Beckett on Films that screened at 2000 TIFF:

Act Without Words 1 by Karel Reisz
Catastrophe by David Mamet
Endgame by Conor McPherson
Happy Days by Patricia Rozema
Krapp's Last Tape by Atom Egoyan
Not I by Neil Jordan
Play by Anthony Minghella
Rockaby by Sir Richard Eyre
Rough For Theatre 1 by Kieron J. Walsh
What Where by Damien O'Donnell

Michael Lindsay-Hogg's Waiting For Godot looks to be first screened on tv in 2001 (if you can add it for that year), thanks.

Katie Mitchell's Rough For Theatre II is listed under 2000 on IMDB, but I don't see it mentioned on the 2000 TIFF screenings.

Those in NYC are lucky, Museum Of The Moving Image series of films from 2000 & 2001 begins Feb. 14.

Next weekend Burnt Money/Plata Quemada, one of my favorite Argentinian films still not on blu-ray, along with La Cienaga, The Day I Became A Woman, & In The Mood For Love (unfortunately a DCP).

You're better off typing the film into the search bar at https://snapgame.cc/ to see if it's in the database at all

Please add: Krámpack (Nico and Dani), Howaitoauto (Whiteout), Mandei (Monday), Aïe (Ouch). Additionally, Garri Bardin's Adagio, only 10 minutes long...
