FYI: The Cockettes (recommended & will probably make my list), the documentary about the San Francisco gender-bending performance troupe, leaves the Criterion Channel at the end of this month, so it (presumably) won't be available anymore in April.

Can you please at Morita's Mohou-han [Copycat Killer]? For me, this, along with Sono's Suicide Club, is the best movie of 2002. [Another Japanese film I'd recommend from 2002, a lighter, sweeter thing, is Sori Fumihiko's Ping Pong.]

Also, looks like you've got Lucas Belvaux' Après la vie + Cavale + Un couple épatant as 2003 films, but my records say I somehow saw them in Fall 2002, maybe in Vancouver. I'll try to remember to include them in my 2003 list, if that's the list-master's judgment.

Also, I'd vote for Brakhage's "Lovesong 3" and "Lovesong 4" and Lee Sang-Il's Border Line, if they can be included. They seem to be 2002.

I quite like David Lynch's Dumbland series, which I think is 2002, if that kind of thing is eligible. Even better, iyam, are Eric Fensler's "G.I. Joe" remixes, which I have as 2002, but which others mark as 2003. In any case, they weren't on the snapshot page, so ... please to add. And HIGHLY recommended, if you don't already know them. No, really.

I've added most of those. My understanding is the Belvaux films just had a few unceremonious festival screenings in 2002 before opening wide in France early in 2003, so that's why they're there. I've also added the Fensler to 2003 (not seeing any evidence for 2002).

I'm seeing information to put Brakhage's Lovesong series in 2001. I also see there being 6 parts. Do you want to be able to vote for the whole thing or just individual parts?

Thanks! I've only seen Lovesong 1-4 and marked 1 and 2 (neither are favorites) as 2001 and 3 and 4 (which I'd vote for low-ish in the top 25) as 2002. I've no idea when Brakhage made them or when they were "released", so I'm happy to follow whatever assignation you take.

Thanks for the Fensler add. Those clips are genius.

I've added the Lovesong series to 2001. You can vote for the whole series or any of its individual parts

Can you please add White Oleander, No Good Deed, and Searching for Paradise? All three will be in my top ten

Surprised it looks like I’ve only written up the Rafelson, though
domino harvey wrote: Sat Feb 20, 2016 4:44 pm No Good Deed (Bob Rafelson 2002) Despite the talent behind the screen and stars Samuel L Jackson and Stellan Skarsgard I’d never even heard of this, but it ended up being the best of Rafelson’s numerous neonoirs. This Dashiell Hammett adaptation finds mild-mannered GTA cop Samuel L Jackson coerced into searching for a runaway, only to be sidelined into a strange cabal of criminals orchestrating a terrible heist. The film’s presentation of the assorted losers working in tandem to pull off this bank job is offputting at first, but they remain pulp-based and call to mind some of the great dumb cons of countless classic noirs. I’m less enamored with the romantic flirtation that exists between the captive Jackson and Milla Jovovich, though it does payoff in the finale with a nicely moral fatalism. Recommended.
EDIT Searching for Paradise only has 29 Letterboxd viewers?! No wonder Sundance Channel didn’t make it. DVDs are going from $7.99 on Amazon though if you want to pump these numbers up

Weird, for these and the 2003 requests I just did a ctrl+f and searched the names. Must have been some glitch that didn't show them. Sorry for that. Thanks for adding the other two.

This did not do much for me upon a second (maybe third) viewing. The final shot, in particular, is pretty disappointing in imposing an interpretation not explicit in Beckett's text. Also, damn is the picture quality on these DVDs bad. They must have been shot on film. I wonder if a Blu-ray release is completely out of the realm of possibility.
