Has anyone actually gotten these yet? I'm thinking about picking up Ivan's Childhood, and maybe Stalker. From what I've seen, this is the release to get, but what about Stalker?

Does anyone know if Ruscico's own Ivan Childhood-release (not AE etc.) have got the same image as MK2:s?

I thought it didn't, but when I asked if they or Artificial Eye are going to re-issue Ivan's childhood with the better image I got this answer (Njuta is a Swedish company that released the Ruscico-Tarkvosky:s as well):

"Mk2 and Njuta use our DVDs all they manufacture is covers, the project is the same (RUSCICO production). Artificial Eye produced DVDs themselves, we do not know about their plans."

So, they seem to claim that the MK2-dvd and the Ruscico-DVD are identical - can this be true or is the person that replied short of information? I doubt that it's true (though I haven't seen a review of their DVD), but if so the version with the better image has been out there quite a while before the MK2 release.

/D.

I watched STalker last night for the first time. Probably one of the most expertly photographed films I've seen, but Tarkovsky never fails at impressing me in that field. I will no doubt need to see it again, it's a grower, but I love the manner which the film builds around the viewer with it's implicit sci-fi themes.

Slightly off topic but has anyone seen Tarkovsky's 'Boris Godunov' on DVD? Is it worth buying?
