Let's not make Corpse Bride the only talked-about stop-motion animation film on this forum, ok? I love this dynamic duo!

I'll take this over 100 Miramax-y Oscar wannabes any day.

Just for the record, I'm eagerly awaiting this feature film effort by this team. Only a few days ago did I finally see Chicken Run, and a few months ago, I finally saw the Wallace & Gromit shorts. They're amazing, so fun, so quick-witted, so fast. They're just great, and I hear that the film's going to be amazing from rottentomatoes, so I can't really wait.

There was a little featurette on this in the theater I was at before I saw The Constant Gardener. The audience, I believe, was actually amused and some of the footage they showed actually got some laughs. This was also the first time I have seen anything other than stupid 6 month old trivia questions and quotes of movies I haven't seen. A real plus I think since I am usually bored out of my mind before a movie starts (or the trailers anyway). I'll probably catch this one in the theater if I can. I can't say the same about Corpse Bride though.

The poster and title had led me to believe this would be halloween-themed. The trailer does not. I'm confused.

What's great though is that the Dreamworks animation head laid his dirty hands off this pic, so their shouldn't be any stupid refrences flavors of the week.

I remember first discovering the Wallace and Gromit shorts in the early 90's, and falling in love with them instantly. They're hilarious, and excellent stories as well, the best one being th epants story involving the penguin with a gun.

I can't wait for this to come out.

The first half of this is a hilarious, ingeniously clever tour de force. The second half lags a little, but the finale is to be marvelled at. Yes, it's what you'd expect from the briliance of "Close Shave" and "Wrong Trousers." Go see it! Waaay better than Corpse Bride!

Yeah, it was fully realized and really enjoyable. Let's hope Dreamworks can find a way to sell it, because it's as good a purely commercial film as I've seen all year.

Good news: The film ended in top of the box-office for the weekend. The bad news: the sets for the film were destroyed by a fire over the weekend, according to DVDTimes.co.uk. Here is the link:

Coming to region 1 on February 7th. No specs yet, that I've seen, though it appears it will be released in both widescreen and full screen formats. Let's cross our fingers for a commentary and long making-of.

Wouldn`t it be cool if they paired it up with a second disc of collected W&G shorts, to make a kind of a Ratcatcher or Knife in the Water thing, with all the work up to this point in one place? (Disregarding all the non W&G stuff, of course)

Does anyone have specs for the R2 UK disc? I know it's a two-disc set, but I don't know what the features are.
Here they are:

Wait, so which of these feature is NOT on the R1 disc?

I may be wrong but I think that they spread the R1 extras onto 2 discs for the UK set. But I haven't got both to do the correct comparison. Maybe someone will help here?

Although I wouldn't consider Universal's PR department to be a trustworthy source of anything, my general impression from their announcements is that they really stripped down Curse... to just two or three special features, I assume those which would mostly appeal to children. "The Coolest Techniques in Filmdom"?? Who writes that?

One thing I'm sure will not be on the disc is the "Cracking Contraptions" shorts, which were on the offensive, stripped Universal R1 reissue of the shorts to promote the feature film. I'm glad I was able to find the Warner / BBC Special Edition disc of that before the new one came out.

Perhaps Universal will pull a rabbit out of their hat and surprise us all. The PR is terribly vauge and for all I know it'll be a direct port of the R2 first disc.

According to davisdvd.com, Universal didn't mention in their press release that the DVD contains a commentary track from Nick Park and Steve Box.

I saw an add in Walmart that they will have an exclusive second disc but I was pushed out of the store by people trying to leave before I could figure out what was on it.

Can someone describe the differences between the new Universal disc and the out of print BBC version??

The WB/BBC version has an Introduction by Nick Park, commentary on all three shorts by Park, behind-the-scenes footage, a W&G "scrapbook" with blueprints of their inventions and Nick Park's early works.

I have both and that's coming from the back of the dvd. The Universal disc just has the three shorts and the 10 very short Cracking Contraptions.

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but I wanted to tell everyone that the six Wallace and Gromit 'advert bumpers', as well as the logo that played before every programme on BBC2 (with the announcer introducing the programmes over it) during Christmas 1995 have been uploaded to YouTube.
