The price has been dropped to $39.95, which comes to $27.96 with a 30% off. Even better.

I wonder what the packaging will be. A chance to shed a couple of snappers? Apparently there will be no new goodies.

And it's a shame it doesn't have the documentary Bacall on Bogey, which could also be a pretty good stag film. Though didn't Warner release this on VHS?

They released it in Casablanca two-discer. The documentary, not the stag film...

Yeah, Criterion and Warner are the only 2 studios reissuing DVDs.
And it's not a reissue per se, it's just same old snapper leftovers put in the box. They did the same for
Tracy & Hepburn about 1.5 years ago.

Why can't I find this for pre-order anywhere except Amazon, nor on any of the DVD price comparison sites?

It's possible it's Amazon exclusive.

According to Amazon the release date is now July 25, so there's a good chance this will still be added to other retailers' inventories.

Yeah, and it looks like it will be in normal packaging, not snappers - Warner is going re-issue all Bogie-Bacall titles on that date.

This seems to be an Amazon.com exclusive box. Did you order it? How do you about they come in snappers? Strange.

012569676886 - this UPC is Amazon exclusive that's already available and looks like it's snappers only
012569793361 - this UPC is available at other retailers (buy.com, deep discount dvd, DVD Empire) that streets on July 25th with single-disc editions of these titles and most likely will not be snappers.

I don't care about snappers. They're going to be the same disc in a box anyway. I'm getting this.

this is a rerelease right? not a new print of The Big Sleep but the same disc previously available? Now that Maltese Falcon is coming out I want to revisit the better-known film noirs.

That's right. And by the way, Matt was right. I got my set a few weeks ago, and they are indeed snappers.

Good news...well, maybe not for Matt and gigimonagas. The discs in the new Bogie and Bacall set that is being released this Tuesday (not the previous Amazon exclusive) are indeed in keepcases, NOT snappers. I held the set in my own grubby little hands today, and saw the individual titles in keepcases as well. Sounds like Warner foisted their remaining snapper inventory onto Amazon and their unsuspecting customers.

Yeah, my set from Amazon came in snappers. I really don't care much about the packaging.
