R3 Imai Tadashi box set

Received these today. Picture quality looks good. English subs as announced. AND they're region 0 instead of region 2, which is unusual for japanese discs.

Three new r2jp discs of Kobayashi films will be released on 7/29. All three, according to cdjapan, will have English subtitles.

They are:

Aruku, hito (2001)
Kaizokuban - Bootleg Film (1999)
Closing Time (1996)

Kobayashi is also the director of Bashing (2005), Flic (2005), Amazing Story (2003), Koroshi (2000), each of which is, iyam, very good.

R3 Imai Tadashi box set

Taiwan company "rontm" has released an Imai Tadashi box set with two of his late forties films, Blue Mountains (aka Green Mountains) and Til We Meet Again. It's listed on yesasia.com as having english subtitles.

Blue Mountains, Aoi sanmyaku (1949), is nearly three hours long (on the Japanese DVD, yet imdb.com lists it as 92 mins) and stars Hara Setsuko (who won Best Actress that year for the Mainichi awards). Til We Meet Again, Mata au hi made (1950), and stars Sugimura Haruko. Anyone familiar with this company or have opinions about the films or director? As far as I can tell only his 1991 film, War and Youth has been made available with english subtitles until now (if the yesasia is correct in it's listing, that is.)

IMDB lists the film (properly) as "Aoi sanmyaku" and "Zoku aoi sanmyaku". Basically this is a 3-hour film that was released in two parts. (Usually the second half was released about a week or so after the first part). Add the two parts together -- and you come up with the right length.

This release does not contain English subtitles.
