Fox of course is bringing out a Jayne Mansfield set, which includes (how could it not?) "The Girl Can't Help It". But Film Forum in New York is scheduled to present "The Girl Can't Help It" in August and it is billed as a CRITERION Pictures Release of a 20th Century Fox Film.

Criterion Pictures have nothing to do with The Criterion Collection. Different entities. Similar names. That's all.

However, the transfer is not anamorphic and far from perfect (scratchy and grainy). The R1 will be a lot better picture wise, one assumes, and with better extras. The only thing missing will be the theatrical trailer, which the R2 has and the R1 won't. So, I guess you didn't miss out on much, then! But perhaps it's better we move the discussion here:
