It isn't listed on any other sites yet, though. I have not seen it, though it has been on my list for a few years. How funny is it?

Although not an Ealing film, it's very much in the Ealing comic mold, so it can be very amusing if you happen to like dry British humor. I believe Home Vision Entertainment released this movie on VHS under its U.S. title: THE PROMOTER. Guinness is great, as always. (I think that he did some of his finest work for Ronald Neame.) And the fact that the film is set in the past (early-1900s, I think) gives it a unique flavor not unlike Kind Hearts and Coronets -- though without the black comedy.

It was on telly the other day, Gordon - either Channel 4 or BBC2 at lunchtime.

It's a pity I missed it, as it sounds terrific and it seems to be considered an underappreciated gem.
