I'm surprised that no one has ever posted about Raoul Coutard's amazing debut film, "Hoa-Binh." It's available
on a French DVD set along with another one of his films.
Any comments on this release's quality?

I just received the French DVD of Hoa-Binh from fnac.com (they were selling it for 8 euros, so I threw it in when I ordered the Godard Histoire(s) set). I haven't re-watched the film yet, but I quickly went through the disc:
- it's a very good print
- the audio options are dubs in both French and English (optional French subs)
- there's a 22-minute featurette, Retour à Saïgon, including an interview with Coutard (no English subs)
- there's a Coutard short film from 1970, Jolly Green, about the U.S. military (no English subs)
All in all, it looks like a pretty nice package for a movie hardly anyone knows about, even if it did win these awards:
- Prix de la 1ère oeuvre au Festival de Cannes 1970
- Prix Jean Vigo 1970
- Bell ring scholastic award
- Best Foreign Film, Oscar nomination, 1970 (it lost to Petri's Investigation of a Citizen above Suspicion)
