Couldn't find original post, if there is one. Anyways, here's a horrible quality
comic-con clip which won't be up for long.

Favreau's career path is certainly one of the bigger surprises of the last few years

There is nothing about that trailer that doesn't scream comic book geek heaven. Downey looks to be a great Tony Stark, they appear to be sticking with the basics of the origin, three different Iron Man suits, most of which were shot as practical in-camera effects and they are using Black Sabbath's "Iron Man." I don't get really excited over superhero movies anymore but that first trailer has done the trick.

It's a pretty stupid trailer, but it has Robert friggin' Downey Jr.

If he acts like he does in the trailer throughout the entire movie, this might be a comic book movie I actually bother to see.

It's look like it'll be average at best... However, Downey looks great, and I like the comparable lack of CGI.
If it was possible to make one-shot superhero movies, like they have comics, I think a hard-R Cronenberg-made Ironman would be the stuff that dreams are made of.

It would be also be the perfect excuse for bringing Shinya Tsukamoto in to do his long talked about US set third Tetsuo film!

Please don't laugh at me, but I'm excited for this, which is a really dubious position when you consider it's a Favreau project.

Hell, I know what I'm paying for when I see a popcorn blockbuster, and I'm going to see this. I just saw the trailer in hi-def, and maybe that makes me a total mark, but it looks way better than
Daredevil,
Elektra, and
X3, and that's enough for me.

God, I couldn't even finish watching the trailer to this. The beginning of it looked okay, if a little forcibly topical, (not a bad thing) but then it turned into complete CG-bullshit. Some of scenes in the trailer reminded me more then a little of the ridiculously over-complex transformation scenes from Transformers, but at least that movie had the still inadequate "alien technology" excuse. I hate how in every superhero movie trailer they have to include a clip in which the protagonist exclaims "I can fly / sling webs / turn into a big, angry green man!" too. I know that the movie could in fact be radically different then the preview, but the entire time I was watching it my mind was screaming "Fantastic 4" and we all know how that turned out.
It's too bad, because I was a little intrigued by the bizarre casting choice of Robert Downey Jr. to play a superhero character.

Ugggh... where there goes the one thing the film had going for it in the teaser (a comparative lack of CGI).

A fascinating and entertaining read
comparing Iron Man and the Black Sabbath song of the same name.

ok ill admit i talked trash about this movie when it first was being talked about, and this does look a litte better, but i think its a little dum getting Robert Downey Junior to play Iron Man, because my best friend was just telling me how Robert Downey Junior is a alchoholics in real life, and that iron man in the movie is an alchoholic too. So its a little bit of a cop out for him to play him, its like having someone who really had gamma radiates to play the hulk (aka brian banner). But this movie will sail a lot of tickets anyway because of all the CGI, which i also think is a cop out, make the story about the character, not about fighting and flame throwers, and punching, and cars. But whatever, im not the director, and im probably will go see it anyway, but one of my best friends is a director, and i talked to him and he said he wouldnt have directed the movie, to mainstream for him. thats the type of person we need directing our comic book movies we loving so much, go indy, get back to the roots of it! but im just a geek who needed to vent.
