Hmmm, looks cool. The fans are kinda annoying, but the guy who played the dad as a/the focus is good. He's got a great sweet presence in the film and seems like a really sweet guy. I also like that little Joshua is the director (I assume?). I love Troll 2,

I was skeptical for the same reasons you mention, all those ironic hipsters "loving" the film were nauseating, but the scenes with the dentist very graciously discussing his role in the film were great and leave me hopeful that the film focuses more on these kinds of aspects.

I saw Troll 2 when I was four or five years old and even then it was a piece crap (and some of it still sticks with me pretty well, like the woman with the popcorn or the scene in the car or the kid pissing on the dinner table), I'm sure I couldn't sit through more than a few minutes now. I'm surprised that it has any kind of fanbase at all (this thing packs 400 people in a theatre?), but I guess there's a much larger audience these days for bad movies than I realize.

Yeah, and he also really hasn't aged at all since playing the role.

Still, I'd rather watch Michael Moriarty discussing his performance in the first Troll.

So.... who actually saw this thing before it became THE bad movie to see?

I must have seen it like 6 times between the ages of 4-6... for years after that I was confused as to whether I actually ever saw the film or dreamt or imagined it. Surely a movie this ridiculous could not exist, nor could I have tooken it seriously enough to have watched it that many times, nor could any self-respecting parents let me see it. Hell, I found it unthinkable that I could ever come in possession of such a movie. My vague recollections of the green evil corn, the head witch (?) looking like a goth Thomas Dolby, the dreaded secret of the town of Nilbog (You'll never guess the horrors hidden in that name), the corn-love scene (inspiration for RINGU?), DOUBLE DECKER BOLOGNA SANDWICHES!!! All this seemed too unreal and bizarre to have ever really been captured on film. Sure enough, years later, I find out that the movie did exist, but as I had no interest to track it down as I was still unsure whether it was as bad as I remembered it. Now, I see this trailer, and it all comes back to me. How I ever managed to take this seriously when I was young is beyond me, and I and my youth feels somewhat violated that I subjected myself to it as many times as I did back then. I may have been a great writer or painter if it wasn't for that second or third viewing of this movie. Seeing it for what it is, I feel as if this film killed my father and raped my mother now that I know it wasn't a bad dream.

Naturally, I would kill to see this movie now in a packed theater. "You can't piss on hospitality!" is some sort of Mametian brilliance, as is Grandpa Seth's opening monologue. If this ever plays in Portland, I'll be there with a voracity that has no equal on earth!

The documentary looks cool too.

How could I forgot about the kid pissing on the dinner table?! I know want to see this film and I feel like a horrible person for wanting so.

I believe I rented it in 1990 or 91, so I was actually six or so. Haven't seen more than a few seconds of this thing since, but it appears to be even worse than I remembered.

Kinda, when did this become so hip, was it recently? I saw it when it was released on dvd with the original Troll. My thoughts on the original Troll were like yours for Troll 2 ("Saturday the 14th Strikes Back" is another own that plagued me). I had thought maybe it was a all a dream until I later discovered it, and I didn't like it much, but was still compelled to buy it when it came out on dvd. I watched Troll 2 late one night when I couldn't sleep, afterwards I watched it every day for a week.

I saw this at a screening in NY a few months ago with one of those packed houses. It was really full, with a merchandise table selling high quality t-shirts and the documentary crew filming/ interviewing extensively. The main boy, the father, and the boy with glasses who says "OH MY GODDDDD" were all present for a q+a afterwards which was pretty entertaining.

Having never seen the film before I was a little overwhelmed by the crowd "participation", but it was a lot of fun regardless. Looking forward to the movie I guess, if only to see or hear from director Claudio Fergasso.

I saw this at Frightfest last year, and really enjoyed it - and I'm no fan on Troll 2. Hardy is a joy to watch, though you dread his fall as he starts being suckered into the strange hero worship he receives at the screenings. Best bit is the egomaniacal Claudio Fragasso insisting he made a genuinely good film, and his grumpiness when he realises that people are queuing round the corner to laugh at his film, not with it. Some genuine moments of pathos as well, as Stephenson and Hardy track down two cast members in particular whose lives have gone down sad paths since the film was made.

That poster looks great. Never understood the hype surrounding Troll 2, though. It's being screened at Imagine Film Festival, 14-24 April in Amsterdam in two weeks by the way, if you're in the area.. Uwe Boll is also attending, for his latest film Rampage, so beware.

What a neat idea for a film!

I confess to being a Toll 2 fan. When I finally broke down and purchased the DVD a few years ago I was howling with laughter at the inane, endlessly quotable dialogue, the pathetic toll costumes, the atrocious acting, the nonsensical concept behind the whole thing. My friends were really annoyed by my enthusiasm for it.

Actually, Ed Wood's films are far from being the worst movies ever made, but they're the most endearing bad films ever made. Troll 2 is likewise fun in its awfulness, though I'd argue that Ed Wood had more raw directorial talent than Claudio Fragrasso.

But to keep this on topic, this looks like a fun movie and I love finding out info about the people who make these widely panned movies - like Manos - and how they react to their movie's infamy.

I really need to see this, and Troll 2 with an audience. I'm sure it would be a blast.

The film really does achieve some sort of absurd brilliance that needs to be seen. I'd argue any film with a character named Sheriff Gene Freak deserves to be seen.
