His films are being shown at a retrospective near my workplace. Many of his films are available from Toho/Toei/Shochiku, etc in Japan, but who actually owns distribution rights outside? Were any of his things released outside Japan?

I don't think any Makino film has ever been available on home video (any format) in the West. all I've seen by him to date is his remarkable "samurai musical" -- Oshidori utagassen.
