A Canadian label, Seville, seems to be putting out a number of IFC/Weinstein films on DVD before any apparent American release. According to the retailer publication, Hollywood@Home, and listings on amazon.ca...

Paranoid Park on July 22nd (no word on aspect ratio, though I've looked high and low)
Ne touchez pas la hache on August 12th
Flight of the Red Balloon on August 19th

On a similar note, TVA Films are also (finally) putting out a Blu-ray disc for C.R.A.Z.Y. on August 12th, and if you want Melville's Un flic R1 with the proper title, then go Canada.

I just got off the phone with a major Canadian distributor, but they were unable to confirm if Paranoid Park would be presented in widescreen or fullscreen. The person I spoke to said that usually if it doesn't denote "widescreen" in his database, it means its in full screen but he couldn't be certain. I even managed to find the UPC number of the release, but a Google search revealed very little. I guess I'll have to pass by a video store on the day of release to get an answer.

I work at Blockbuster, and we get stuff a week before street date... suffice to say, I am anxiously awaiting Tuesday.

Seville has now updated their website acknowledging the DVD release, and while specs aren't listing, they acknowledge a 1:33 theatrical ratio. So, Canada may wind up with the only worldwide version with the right framing.
