Hollywood Wax Museum set to auction 200 wax celebs

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Want to permanently share your home with James Dean, Marilyn Monroe or all four Beatles?

The Hollywood Wax Museum is offering wax representations of these and nearly 200 other celebrities at the first auction in its 44-year history, set for May 1.

Fans can bid on political figures, such as George Washington and Bill Clinton, and athletes like Tiger Woods and Michael Jordan. Musicians such as Cher, Stevie Wonder and the Fab Four will be available, along with TV and film stars including Lucille Ball, Johnny Carson, Will Smith and Charlie Chaplin.

The auction will be administered by Profiles in History and a portion of the profits will support efforts to preserve Hollywood's historic Walk of Fame.

I also found out, by Googling "Profiles in History," that they are handling the auction of Forry Ackerman's estate this month. If I lived in LA and had money, I would own so much ridiculous bullshit.

I'd probably have to sell my house, but I'd go for Imhotep's ring.
But it's sad that Forry was never able to find a permanent home for all those treasures (and, admittedly a lot of trash). Now it'll all be scattered ...

One of the saddest rituals in the world is when a family moves in to clean out and evacuate an apt after a relative dies, and all their most precious belongings-- tokens, clippings, saved items, sentimental clothing, etc-- all suddenly metemophose into garbage.

Reminds me of a certain Twilight Zone episode that gave me nightmares as a kid.
