Considering, none of my changes posted in February were applied to the list, it's definately more than that. Also, Arabian Nights and The Heiress are being released in February as well as 5 of W.C. Fields titles in March. And all of Preston Sturges from Universal catalogue are now available in region 1.

On February 5, 2008 Universal will release the following: TAMMY TRILOGY consisting of the 3 Tammy films - TAMMY AND THE BACHELOR, TAMMY TELL ME TRUE and TAMMY AND THE DOCTOR.
Also on February 5, Universal will release a Lana Turner double feature consisting of Portrait in Black and Madame X.
While I'm glad that both these films are making it to DVD, it would have made more sense to release the 1937 version of Madame X with the 1966 version.

The lists on the beginning of this thread are sorely in need of a correction. Gordon, are you still up to the task? Or can anyone brave enough do the job from now on?
By the way, I still haven't given up on a Universal sub-forum. Come on, guys - let's make it happen! Please...? Let's make The Criterionforum.org the most comprehensive yet!

Re: Unreleased Universal Titles
Three Bob Hope movies make their R1 debut in June in Universal's Bob Hope: Thanks For the Memories Collection: the Cat and the Canary, Thanks For the Memory, and Nothing But the Truth, alongside ports of Ghost Breakers, Road to Morocco, and the Paleface.
Hey this thread really belongs in the R1 DVD Subforum, huh

Re: Unreleased Universal Titles
A lot of those films have now been made available on DVD (or, at least, DVD-R). One particular film missing from the list, though: Mike Leigh's "Life Is Sweet."

Re: Unreleased Universal Titles
None of these lists include one of my favorite terrible movies, KING OF JAZZ starring Paul Whiteman (and a young Bing Crosby). I would kill to have this trainwreck released.

I was thrilled to find a DVD of this at a thrift shop. I promptly burned it to DVDR.agnamaracs wrote:None of these lists include one of my favorite terrible movies, KING OF JAZZ starring Paul Whiteman (and a young Bing Crosby). I would kill to have this trainwreck released.

Re: Unreleased Universal Titles
I think THE GREAT WALDO PEPPER is a superb George Roy Hill film, superior to THE STING in my opinion. It's lighthearted nostalgia gives way to some truly tragic moments that give the film quite a bit of depth. Like the best of 70s cinema, you can't imagine this movie being made (or remade) today.
I assume this will be a DVD-R release?

The movie version of Pirates of Penzance (1983) will be released in just under a month.

Re: Unreleased Universal Titles
I can't confirm this from a really ironclad source but the HTF crowd claims that The Greek Tycoon and 'Night, Mother (released by Uni earlier this year) are actually 1.33:1. It's 1998 all over again!Ashirg wrote:According to DVD Empire, these 1970's-1980's Universal titles are getting released on August 3:
