Just why it took me this long to come around to this nice, little creeper is beyond me. Just finished watching it and had a terrific time.

I would think that at the time it came out, it must have looked pretty moralistic and judgmental, no doubt fuelled by that freudian mumbo-jumbo being thrown at us in key parts of the movie to make it sound altogether more logical and scientific. Of course it made sense that children are evil! Of course it made sense that it's inheritable! Not!

50 years on, it's nothing more than 2 hours of some good, old wicked fun and it's always great when you see a cast of actors that talented and that commited to the story and script. There's no other film quite like this one that I've seen and that's one of the reasons why it still has that novelty feel about it.

I agree with every word you wrote, Lino. I love this bizarre film. I think what makes it unique is its intention on being a "stagey" film instead of hiding it like so many stage-to-movie adaptations made during its era. That's the big part of its charm.
