Recently, I came across the Italian THE BLUE DAHLIA (LA DALIA AZZURRA) DVD-release (R-2It/PAL):

Label: Ermitage; language + subs: Italian; running time 94 min. (PAL)

Here they are, the Universal-Noir R-2UK releases

Awful covers by the way. Promo-shoots, no stills too. This Gun for Hire even shows a deleted scene.
And, that lady on the cover of Out of the Past, that's Jane Greer?

The Blue Dahlia and The Glass Key arrived yesterday. Otherwise decent image-quality BUT: about 48½ minutes into Blue Dahlia, all of a sudden the image turns into a combing/ghosting -filled mess and this goes on for the rest of the film. Voila:

I expect this DVD + The Glass Key on Friday.... :(

Are there any subs and extra features on these DVD's by the way?

The Glass Key seemed consistent, the glitch is only on Dahlia. English subs only and no extras of any kind.

My copy of Siegel's The Big Steal should drop in tomorrow.

Fortunately, I cancelled The Big Steal; however, when I receive such a bad transfer like your copy of the The Blue Dahlia, I return that copy.
I now posses a rather decent The Blue Dahlia bootleg with a trailer too.

Maybe the glitch in Dahlia was onl your copy (hardly likely..though ) ?

Do The others DVDs, have all English subs? There's no mention in the link.

I received my copy today and it's very watchable on my largish CRT display. However, the transfer isn't great by any means and it shows some interlacing artifacts that could be desastrous on progressive displays.

However, that's small potatoes, because    The Big Steal is colorized!!!   It's also taken from a weak analogue master, but that doesn't matter anymore ...

My dear Universal, you're always exceeding my expectations, just when I thought you couldn't sink lower #-o
