Damn I love this film. If the folks at CC mentioned a November 06 release I suppose we can expect it springtime then?

Those Amazon buyers are tards. At Ebay, it's been selling for more realistic prices of around $30. I've noticed other jacked-up prices for OOP DVDs that these buyers keep falling for.skuhn8 wrote:Just sold mine on amazon for $62- sold in less than 10 hours
Next to Amazon buyers in terms of IQ level are the Amazon sellers. Every, I mean every, purchase I made from these people had problems with the item, delivery, payment, etc. I've used up all three of my Amazon Buyer Protection complaints on these people. I won't buy anything from them even if it's a Criterion Salo for 1 cent. I have NEVER had to file a single complaint at ebay. (Half.com, however, are full o' tards.)

I'm very pleased with the new specs. I'm just as eager to upgrade this disc as I was Seven Samurai, Playtime, and Amarcord. Dana Poland is a good choice for the audio commentary, and the excellent Shadowing the Third Man doc is the full-length 90 minute version, not the 60 minute version that aired on TCM. Now let's just hope that "More!" turns out to be the pilot episode of the television program.

Incidentally, I stumbled across a site with all the Third Man radio shows for free download.
As to the DVD, it does look interesting. For a very brief moment, I was very excited about this one. Then, I realised there'll probably be an even better version (image wise) in HD soon enough. So, I'll probably hang on to my serviceable old R4 DVD for a little longer.

Though there are no formal reviews or screengrabs online that I can find, I've read in certain forums that the currently available Optimum Region 2 2-DVD set has an excellent transfer (superior to the old Criterion). It also features the SHADOWING THE THIRD MAN documentary.
Can anyone vouch for the quality of the Optimum?

I have a Canal+ French version which has the Shadowing The Third Man documentary, which I found to be reasonably good. The anecdotes from the continuity editor and another person involved in the making of The 3rd Man were mostly interesting. And it was fun at times to watch scenes of the film projected on some of its original locations and surrounding environs. The transfer I have of the film itself looks good, but is full screen. Though mine is a 2-disc box set (a digipak that folds open to have three leaves) bought ina dark alleyway from a Chinaman with eyepatch and parrot.reaky wrote:Though there are no formal reviews or screengrabs online that I can find, I've read in certain forums that the currently available Optimum Region 2 2-DVD set has an excellent transfer (superior to the old Criterion).
