June is going to kill me, financially. All five of these Criterions are must-buys for me, plus the Ozu box on Eclipse! What a month!justeleblanc wrote:This is going to be the first month where I will be pre-ordering all of the films. Remember this time last year when everyone was pissed that Criterion was releasing 2 films a month?

Yeesh, you'll never hear me complaining about that. Keep 'em coming, especially if they're all gonna be such great and anticipated titles.justeleblanc wrote:This is going to be the first month where I will be pre-ordering all of the films. The Markers are my only definite purchase, with If... being a very distinct possibility. The others look great (though in the WR/SM cases mostly just for the artwork: brilliant!), but I have a hard time justifying that kind of money for such limited content. Couldn't be more thankful for Netflix...

Nice elegant packaging on the Early Bergman set. Minimalism is the order of the day. Thinpacks for the discs, with liner notes on the inside (reverse of front cover). No disc art, just the eclipse E in the set's colour palette (most of Criterion's recent discs would have been better off with this approach). The outer casing is the potentially annoying open-top-and-bottom affair they've previously used for collector's sets, with the attendant risk that the discs go everywhere when you pick up the 'box'. So I advise you to leave the shrinkwrap on and cut open the top to access the discs.

He means that it is a slip cover similar to the outer slip cover of the CC Rules of the Game or the Region 1 Twin Peaks: Season 1 (except it is paper and not plastic); it slips over the five thinpaks but it does not have a paper top or bottom. I'm sorry if this didn't clear it up for you.
