Spectrum Korea had just released Pan's Labyrinth as a 2 disc set, and Optimum UK will release it in March as a 2 disc set, with different extras.

The Korean disc is still surrounded in mystery, as no knows if the extras are English subtitled, and if the DTS track is there or not. I've seen a screencaps with DTS on the menu, and one without.

My region 3 copy still hasnt been shipped out. Does anyone know what is the real case about it?

No english subs on extras, I might try them anyway, as my Spanish isn't horrible.

There are also the spanish editions. They also come with english subs, though I'm not sure if the extras do. Find more about them here.

Got my set today. Quite a nice package with the booklet with sketches and a synopsis in English. Slim extras on the discs, just the original Spanish trailer, and 45 minutes of Making-of material without English subtitles.

My Japanese friends seemed very intrigued with the package, but they all looked at it saying, "What the hell is Pan's Labyrinth?" Apparently it won't be released until Fall 07, so no promotion has started yet, even with the Oscar wins.

Japanese media always tells you if the Japanese nominees won or lost. But nothing else....... probably the same kind of thing in other countries' media too.

I've ordered the R2 SE so will update with my thoughts once I receive. It looks to be a fantastic package, plus it's on sale at Bensonsworld meaning I bought it for $35 AUD including shipping.

I ordered the R2 as well from Bensons (thanks for the heads up, theres free shipping to US currently so it works out to $22-23ish), so I'm excited to hear more.

Bensons is great, I find it pretty much the UK equivalent of Deep Discount, but with faster shipping.

For those who haven't ordered it yet, they may want to consider this setinstead for almost the same price.

I'm actually considering double dipping even though my Pan's Labyrinth hasn't even arrived yet...

I briefly considered that (the only del Torro films I have are Blade II and Hellboy, and I've been curious about Devil's Backbone for some time,) then I found out that 'Cronos' is an NTSC>PAL conversion (wouldn't surprise me if Devil's Backbone is, too.)

The Devil's Backbone is a MUST. As good as Pan's Labyrinth.

Not sure about the R2 but the R4 (which I own) isn't a NTSC - PAL conversion, has just been left as NTSC. I'm assuming R2 is the same.

The R1 of "Backbone" is certainly acceptable, and I don't recall any PAL>NTSC artifacts. It's available from Netflix is you want to check the quality. Also, I believe there have been two issues of this film on R1 DVD - I'm unsure which is the one I received from Netflix - but be sure you look for the second release as the transfer is purported to be a slight improvement. Good film, and in many ways a dry run for "Labyrinth", but I personally didn't care for it quite as much.

My Pan's still hasn't shipped from Benson's. Better arrive before I switch apartments! :?

Oh, and Devil's Backbone is very good, and it can pretty much be guaranteed that if you like Pan's than you'll like that as well.

Wish I'd seen the boxset earlier... a pound extra for 2 films, crappy transfers or not, is a pretty good deal.

Mine shipped yesterday, which is an unusual delay for Bensons. I'm guessing they must have had a phenomenal order list for this one. Currently listed as their number #1 best seller.
