Cool. This might actually be the first time that it will be available in 2.35:1 (black and white) since the 60s. Great performance by Keenan Wynn.Ashirg wrote:Man in the Middle (1964)
I was expecting Fixed Bayonets! to be a Criterion, but I guess that the Fuller boxed set has fallen through. Great to see it finally get a DVD release, though.[/i]

More War movies are being released on June, 5. They are: The Sand Pebbles, Twelve O'Clock High, Von Ryan's Express.

They seem to be going all out with their new Sand Pebbles release. I don't think I've ever seen the roadshow version.
But come on, why would Von Ryan's Express need two discs? It's an enjoyable movie, but no classic -- and certainly not the kind of film that deserves that sort of special treatment when Fox is leaving masterpieces like The Innocents bare-bones.

That is a weird choice for a 2-disc SE from Fox. In fact, they really seem to be fucking around with SEs of late - and yet, as you say, they overlooked The Innocents, a film they took long enough to release anyway. And where's The Kremlin Letter?tryavna wrote:But come on, why would Von Ryan's Express need two discs? I read somewhere that Fox video wasn't happy with the transfer and was either looking for better elements or was restoring the material they did have. Either way they are working on making it a better looking disc which I take to be a good thing.Gordon wrote:That is a weird choice for a 2-disc SE from Fox. I wonder what ever happened to destination Gobi? There was a trailer for it on the DVD of The Immortal Sergeant.
