I love it when I get loose DVDs in the mail that are totally scratched to hell.

Received the Raymond Bernard box today from DVDPlanet and both discs of Les Miserables were loose and covered in scuff marks and scratches. Looks like I'll have to find another 5-hour movie to watch this weekend.

Finally received shipping notice today from amazon.com for the Raymond Bernard set and Ace in the Hole. From earlier posts it looks like criterion had a hard time getting the Bernard set to retailers, since folks who ordered the Wilder film by itself received it earlier.

EDIT: And I received them today (Sat., 7/21). Woulda liked to have them earlier, but the amazon price was tough to beat.

I put off preordering Cria from DVDPlanet because they listed an incorrect release date of 8/31... that'll teach me #-o

I was tempted to pick up the copy of Cria Cuervos I saw on the shelf at FYE tonight, but the full $40 MSRP price put me off.

Plastic, figure-eight tray for the discs. Felt pretty light for a 2-disc, so I'm guessing the booklet is not very substantial.

I got these today. Didn't care for the fact that they were sent in a big yellow envelope instead of the usual box. One of the discs was loose in Cria Cuervos. But it's not damaged and the Samuel Fuller set looks great.

Got the Fuller box today too. Same yellow envelope, packed along with another item (that was being swapped). More banged up than the other Eclipse sets I've received in the past. I'm gonna go for a swap on the Fuller and a re-swap on the other.

If yellow bubble paks is what dvdplanet is switching to, I think I'll be doing business elsewhere. Their boxes were hit and miss as it was. Cardboard and bubble paks do not mix.

it's not just DVDPlanet that's doing the yellow envelopes, I got a book from their sister site DeepDiscount that was shipped in a yellow envelope. But I also got CDs from DeepDiscount in a box on the same day? Is it possible that they've opened a new warehouse or something and that's the cause of this, because it seems strange that some things which would fit more easily in an envelope (CDs) are boxed and then they envelope DVDs or books. peculiar.

Today, I got 3 orders, 2 from Deep Discount, 1 from DVD Planet. The DVD Planet came in a yellow envelope, while 1 from DD also came in a yellow envelope and the other one in a box. So, who knows.

This recently mess depends on the shipping process. I don't know why, but everytime I choose UPS overnight/2 days shipping, it comes in a envelope. For that reason, I choose standard shipping on Cria Cuervos and the Fuller set to see what happens.

Got shipping confirmation on House of Games and The Milky Way. I have my fingers crossed these won't be in padded envelopes.

My Cria also came in the usual small box, but no loose discs for me. Received shipping notice on House of Games, too.

We've already got HoG out on the shelves at Borders (it was sent out with the 8/14 laydowns) but I've got enough to watch in the meantime...

I received My Sam Fuller box and Cria Cuervo yesterday from Amazon, and although all of the disc's weren't dislodged, Disc 1 of Cria has a bad scuff/scratch and The Steel Helmet is scratched to shit.

Got the Eclipse Fuller set and A Nous Amours from DVDPlanet in their stupid yellow envelope. the discs were fine but the little tabs holding the booklet together both broke, so it's just floating around. thanks for the piece of shit packaging job DVDPlanet!

...and House of Games just arrived in a regular old fashioned box in pristine condition. So is the secret now to either buy one or 5+ DVDs to get a box

I received House of Games and The Milky Way both in a box from DVD Planet. So, I have no idea how it works.

This seems to be a common problem with Cría cuervos. Mine arrived today and both discs were floating loose in the case. The supplemental disc was scratched, but disc one was fine. This is the first time I have had a problem with a figure-eight case from Criterion.

No loose-discs for me so far. Everything (including single-title shipments) have arrived in cardboard boxes. However I did get 3 non-Criterion DVDs in that big yellow envelope recently.
