I'm guessing he might have a fairly standard 5"x6" apartment mailbox, like I do. The bubble mailers fit reasonably well in mine, too, but boxes often get stuck because they fit in (at an angle) from the back when the carrier drops it off, but are blocked by a small "lip" on all sides of the front.

Cosmic Bus explained it well.

DVD Planet may be delayed in shipping the 9/18 releases because they have them slotted for 9/30 release.

They also had Stranger than Paradise and Night on Earth mis-dated but didn't those get out a little early?

I received quite a few shipments in bubble mailers but never had a problem until this last one that arrived with the keepcase crushed (not a Criterion release). The disc was rattling inside the case and had all kinds of scratches. I was looking at the DVD Planet instructions for sending the disc back for a replacement and guess what they have to say about that:
DVD Planet wrote:When returning items to us, use a sturdy carton that will prevent damage to the disc. Do not use a Jiffy Bag, brown paper, or other soft containers
I wish they had followed their own advice.

That's hilarious Don, I'm stealing that to post on the DVDTalk board that DVDPlanet Mark reads.

Oi Vey. Your experience alone should convince them to knock it off, Don. Is there some environmental concern over at DVDPlanet about cardboard boxes? Or has there just been a shortage of cardboard?

deepdiscount is doing this too. get about one item damaged each time they use the bags, especially when items of mixed sizes are put in the same bag, or bag is big and only a few things are shipped, or there's cardboard (I think I mentioned the Fuller eclipse set a while back). amazon seems to be using them randomly too.

wish Criterion would give a bit of warning when cardboard was going to be used, now I just wait until I find out one way or the other, rather than doing any pre-orders.

Anybody know what the deal is with the street date on this month's titles? All four of them are listed everywhere as Oct. 23 yet the Criterion site says Oct. 9. Anyone receive shipping notices for Mala Noche, Days of Heaven, Under the Volcano, or Breathless from the usual suspects (Planet, Pacific, etc.)?

I have it since last week (ordered at DVDPacific) - I live in France...

I'm a little bit disappointed by the packaging of the Eclipse release but the transfer is ok...
(this was my first Eclipse box set...)

Under The Volcano has been shipped by DVDPacific since last week... and here I have in my hands the Criterion - Breathless. I was a bit worried about the artwork, but packaging is in the end great and bonus are fantastic! I haven't rewatched the movie yet... but the transfer talks about potential!

edit : I have Under The Volcano in my hands; transfer looks great!
but I can't bear those double-8 amaray case. I was so lucky until yet that all DVDs like this arrived without scratches... but it won't last...
They could choose some amaray double case slim, (I liked the old big double-DVD), but please choose something else than the double-8 !

Didn't want to start a new thread for such a quick question, and this seemed a moderately appropriate place, so thanks in advancefor a brief answer:

I sold a single disc DVD on ebay to a Canadian buyer. I didn't have any shipping prices set up for international buyers: how much should I charge to ship a standard DVD to Canada? If it makes a difference, he lives in Saint-Eustache, QC.
