Jeez, I just took a beating in Europe, thinking that I'd get a break on some decent dining vs NYC prices being highest around. No dice, the miserable exchange rate killed any possibility of this. I'm going to PM you an alternative.

Where can I get either of these releases for a decent price?
Shoah at amazon.uk for $68, shipping included.

Most of my MoC DVDs came from http://www.sendit.com/ (and some from Amazon.co.uk).

I bought all my moc's at cd-wow. Lots of titles for £10. And no shipping fees.

er... any update on how things stand now for American purchasers? I'm not quite on the up with what's going on at cdwow, never even used it. Where should I direct my business for MOC? Benson's World is looking good for Naruse.

Bensons World is the only place that I have purchased MoC from and they are always fast and the discs are always in great shape.

I have used Bensons a number of times. I must admit, I have never found them to be fast, usually taking 4-5 days to ship in-stock titles.

I didn't mind this if they had the best price - I used to buy a lot of the Hong Kong Legends titles from them. However, my last experience soured me on them; a title I ordered checked out with no shipping charge, which was nice, except the order would not ship. Bensons sat on this for several weeks, until I cancelled the order. I never received an apology or explanation for the delay, and honestly wonder if they were hoping I would cancel so they wouldn't have to eat the shipping on that order.

Nearly all MoC titles at Benson's World are currently priced at £9.99 (Naruse £29.99), along with Eureka silents at £7.99.

Thanks for the heads up, great opportunity to pick up both MoC box sets. Also going to show some love for Abhijan.

I've already posted this in the Criterion Rumors and News Section of the Forum but it bears repeating here:

I would be very wary of ordering anything from CD Wow at the moment . I strongly suspect that the warehouse fire and BPI fine has put them in financial trouble.

Their reputation was based on fast shipping, competitive prices and good customer service. All three have recently deteriorated to a point where it wouldn't surprise me if I heard that they were to cease trading. For example, their Customer Service Department no longer seems to be responding to e-mails and the Cyprus contact number is experiencing 'technical problems'.

There are also a few recent threads on other online forums flagging up this development and shipping problems seem to be rife.

Needless to say, I have an order currently outstanding with them. And it's a new release that's been out for a fortnight so I really do think there's something badly wrong with the company. I've ordered a lot of DVD's from them in the past and never known them to be so bad.

For overseas outside EU Amazon UK deducts VAT and shipping is less so overall cheaper

shame about the OZ/UK exchange rate but

I agree, and Benson's World have stopped their MoC sale too (I missed out on the Naruse box, phooey!). Not to mention CD-WOW becoming *ahem* unreliable of late...

well all I do is go to cdwow.us and type in "masters" in the search bar up top and the list pops up. Maybe someone else knows of another way.

But they only stock 12 titles! I remember there were 13 titles 2 days ago, so I can assume they are not receiving new titles from MoC.

Odd. I just clicked on the link I posted above and it brought the MOC titles up at $13.95. Sale over, I presumed. I then accessed CD-Wow through a $2-off link, searched for 'Masters of Cinema', and the same titles came up at $9.95.

Amazon UK has now reduced the pre order price of Sansho Dayu/Gion Bayashi to 14.98 which is 12.75 ex VAT if you outside EU. Seems a bargain for 2 CDs and a 96 page book

Note that, unlike Amazon US, Amazon UK doesn't appear to offer Pre-Order Price Guarantee so if you have already preordered you have to cancel and reorder to pick up the reduction
