This may not be recent enough for you, but when I purchased the set in July, I encountered the same problem regarding labeling.

Each of the features contained in TCM Archives: Forbidden Hollywood Volume 2 have been digitally remastered from newly-restored film elements. The collection also contains bonus features such as commentaries and theatrical trailers. The three DVD set, containing the five vintage classics and the new documentary feature will be available as a collection only, selling for $49.92 SRP.

This stuff is like a kickass martini-- keep 'em rolling, they give such a buzz. Where in gods name is CITY STREETS? Sylvia Sidney was my GAL, and she's so young, moving and adorable (and those yams) in every movie she's in (positively luminous in YOU ONLY LIVE ONCE), but her sincerity is just super-electric in CITY STREETS.

This is great news. It is wonderful to see Warner's respecting the films of the early 1930s which they produced. In fact this period and these films were some of the best that Warner's ever produced. Three on a Match will shock many viewers with its scenes of drug abuse, child abuse, and sheer violence.
In addition it is great to see The Divorcee get the respect it deserves. After all it was Norma Shearer's Oscar winning performance. A Free Soul is equally good.
Finally we get Female, the one that I am most excited to see reach the dvd format. My only quibble is no Employees Entrance, but maybe they are saving that for the next set which could include They Call It Sin, Illict, The Strange Love of Molly Louvain and Blessed Event.
I will be buying volume two without a doubt so that Warner's will know that there are people willing to shell out cash for their pre-code and mid 1930s titles.

Mamoulian's City Streets (ostensibly Capone's favourite movie) is owned by Universal. Would make a nice Criterion release.

Why is that TCM pre-code docu "Complicated Women" again not included in this set? It would seem like an obvious add-on...

I think they already said in a chat because of some rights issues they cannot include it, so they made a new film.

It's aired recently on Turner Classic Movies and they are working with Warners on these sets (TCM Archive Collection afterall) so if it's still recently broadcasting, what possible rights issues could there be?

Broadcast and DVD rights are two entirely different issues. Clips and music from the original documentary were probably cleared for broadcast but not for home video use.

This is almost certainly correct. It's also worth pointing out that one-off broadcast rights are generally far cheaper than commercial retail rights, so just because it's been shown on TV certainly doesn't mean that it will automatically be affordable for DVD release.

I had to pass on including a BBC programme as an extra recently because they asked for an eye-watering licence fee - fully twenty times the most I was prepared to offer (which was a perfectly reasonable proposal in line with market norms).

TCM's own site shows nothing by way of subtitles on this; and they do note them for other releases ... but, fear not; seeing Stanwyck in her underwear will justify your purchase.

And, we know which one has a bigger pair. I'll bet Camille's comments are well worth hearing. I thought her commentary track on the SE of "Basic Instinct" was excellent.

Intelligent voice over while watching scantily dressed women - I finally figured out what that "mind-body" connection really means.
