Unless I'm completely useless at searching on Amazon, the release date has been changed to, basically, "We have no idea."

I could be wrong, but don't the single-feature editions of Grindhouse include all the trailers, etc.?
ie. the impression I've gotten from reviews, is that if you play Planet Terror and Death Proof back-to-back, the presentation is identical to Grindhouse in theatres (Machete trailer preceding PT, other trailers preceding DP, etc.)
Not interested in getting it myself, regardless. Didn't much like Planet Terror (perhaps I espected a hockey sci-fi horror) at all, and Death Proof was engaging but not enough to rewatch again and again and I'd be reluctant to buy it anyway after the whole "make them pay twice" approach that's been used overseas...
While on that rant, actually, it seems to me the Weinsteins missed a genuinely opportunity to make money on Grindhouse; so what if American audiences didn't go the low-budget double-feature thing. Plenty of films in the past have had a completely different reception in Europe, and Grindhouse seems like exactly the kind of movie that might still have worked in Europe after failing in the U.S. But, of course, splitting the movie created a whole lot of ill will, and lost the European & DVD markets as well. (I'm sure the die-hard, 'collector' fans still bought the DVDs and saw the movie in theatres, but I'm sure most fans (annoyed with the splitting) just gave the movie a rental or, at the very most, might have downloaded it.)

Machete is on the Planet Terror DVD but the other three trailers are not available on either Grindhouse release yet. I've heard rumblings of the Weinsteins releasing a big set for Grindhouse in the style of Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair, but that thing has been in the works since 2004 and they just pushed it back again.Darth Lavender wrote:I could be wrong, but don't the single-feature editions of Grindhouse include all the trailers, etc.?

You probably have questions about these titles, particularly Kill Bill, but no more information is available at this time. Obviously, it's way too early to talk about specific street dates, version and special features. Just know that they ARE on the way. And again, even though this information comes directly from studio sources, you should still consider it Rumor Mill-worthy until the titles are officially announced.

Is the Blu-Ray edition what's holding up the SD version? Honestly, I can't understand why it's taken so long. The Digital Bits wrote:We've also learned that Kill Bill 1 & 2 [is] now being planned for release in 2009 on [Blu-ray]. From Empire's website (via MTV):
Kill Bill Super DVD Finally On The Way?
With added anime gubbins?
Remember four years ago when we were all anticipating the, surely, imminent release of a big super-duper giant-sized DVD box set of Kill Bill? You know, the one Quentin Tarantino kept promising us? Well, try to put yourself in a 2004 frame of mind (listen to some Franz Ferdinand and get an ironic mullet, if it helps) because that DVD may be soon to arrive.
Uma Thurman spoke to MTV recently and said that the set, known as The Whole Bloody Affair, is imminent, and that there would be new footage added. "Right now [Quentin] is putting the two films together with an intermission with an added anime sequence he had already written," she explained. "So, additional stories are in there, in animation". She added that the anime "has nothing to do with [The Bride]. It has to do with another character". Click here for more.
Way back when, Tarantino said that he wanted to make further sub-stories for the film and that anime installments would be an origin story of Bill and his goons, and another on the history of The Bride. Could this extra anime be the former? He's also mentioned wanting to make a sequel to the movie, following a revenge mission by Nicki, the daughter of Vernita Green, slain by The Bride in front of her child's eyes.
So, is it too late to be bringing a new box set out? We don't think so. We still love the first film to bits and have a lot of affection for the second. One of our number actually saw the two films spliced together by Tarantino and said it worked really well. More footage, plus lots of extras, would have us reaching for our wallets.

Someone told me either in this forum or at DVDTalk that Kill Bill 1 and 2 on Blu Ray is being released by Buena Vista while the Whole Bloody Affair is being released by the Weinsteins.jaredsap wrote:The Digital Bits wrote:We've also learned that Kill Bill 1 & 2 [is] now being planned for release in 2009 on [Blu-ray]. Thats correct. Buena Vista has the rights to the individual R rated Vol 1 & 2, while the Weinsteins have the rights to the Uncut/NC17 Whole Bloody Affair.dx23 wrote:Someone told me either in this forum or at DVDTalk that Kill Bill 1 and 2 on Blu Ray is being released by Buena Vista while the Whole Bloody Affair is being released by the Weinsteins.
