There's also a new Billy Wilder set being released along with The Apartment SE.

In the same nether region as his tracks for Prince of the City (particularly galling, as I remember a Warner HTF chat where Lumet's said to have recorded one), The Hill, Serpico, and (if I remember the specs right) BtDKYD, to name just a few of his better movies without commentaries.

He could be like Altman and not be able to keep up with the films anymore (the Criterion blog posting following Altman's death elaborates). I'd still like to hear him, though; he's not tops in the commentary game, but I've always enjoyed hearing what he has to say.

Say, that is a very handsome package. Almost too good to be true. Maybe MGM/Fox have finally gotten their act together.

I think it looks like crap.. As always, the original poster art is the way to go:

The R2 is a lot nicer:

Normally I would agree, but I think most of UA's 1950's posters looked cheap and ugly, and 12 ANGRY MEN is a prime example of UA art at its dullest. I prefer the graphic simplicity of the new R1 DVD cover.

Perhaps if it were a yellow background instead of red and without the ugly 50th Anniversary banner at the very bottom in the contrasting silver-metallic color which looks horrible graphically. And if it were printed on a digipak I'm sure it'd be an improvement. But generally I'll always prefer the original poster artwork simply for what it represents.
