Steve Carell seems to going a little Clouseau with the role which isn't entirely a bad thing. Not much here to judge it by, but being a fan of The Office and The 40 Year Old Virgin, I'm willing to give it a whirl.

But a fan of Evan Almighty?

I also enjoyed the show as a youngster, so I'd like to see how this gets done. I will need to see more footage to truly judge, although the initial trailer is already funnier than the entirity of the Levy/Martin Pink Panther remake, so that's a good start.

Yeah, not quite sure what happened to Carell there. He seems to be involved in a couple of family oriented pictures coming up, which I can only assume is for a combination of a big paycheque and something his kids can watch.

It looks better than The Pink Panther. Perhaps Carell will rebound with this film after the disaster that is Evan Almighty.

And a reference to Catherine Zeta-Jones in Entrapment. This is the bleeding edge of comedy gold right here.

Alan Arkin should make a good Chief.
The Rock? Hmm ... I'd have him play Hymie.
Carell and explosions wouldn't be my choices.

Unfortunately, that is pretty much what the film amounts to which is a shame because Carell and Hathaway are performing leaps and abounds ahead of the script and they have great chemistry. There are some laughs (most of which are in the trailer) but the film gets bogged down by a budding romance between 99 and Max and in chase sequences at the end.
