Just got shipping notice on Pierrot from B&N... As I understand it, they changed the coupon requirements so this will no longer work. It was a good deal for a couple of the upper-tiered Criterions, tho.

Pierrot Le Fou 1 02-18-2008 $20.79

Sub Total: $20.79
Shipping & Processing: FREE
Tax: $0.60

Total Shipment Price: $21.39

Seriously, even if it ships out today it will arrive a week late. Total. Bullshit.

I checked my order today, and Walker/Pierrot are in process. Hopefully this bodes well.

How do you go out of stock on a Godard title? I can wait, but this is bizarre.

Maybe they didn't receive any, or were short-shipped. Would be interesting to know if anyone who ordered through Deep Discount is experiencing the same thing.

Last Emperor shipped, but no go for Walker and Pierrot yet, just saying.

This is frustrating. The site has been saying 'In Process' for Pierrot le fou for over a week now. Meanwhile 'Last Emperor' has shipped but no sign of Pierrot.

Lately, anything I've pre-ordered from Amazon seems to not ship until street date or the day after (Pierrot still hasn't shipped and supposedly won't until Monday) but any regular in-stock orders tend to ship out within 24 hours, even with free shipping. I don't really care that I've got to wait a while longer sometimes, but I do find it odd.

Still waiting on DVDPlanet to ship Pierrot le fou. DeepDiscount is also sold out and says the title will ship on March 5 #-o This is a title I have been waiting for a while and I preordered it well in advance but oh well ... at least Last Emperor should arrive tomorrow.

Anybody inside or near Digital Eyes/DVD Planet know what's up with Pierrot le Fou/Walker? It just seems strange that all the other January/February Criterions are well stocked except for these two.

I guess that's why they're not called DVDPlanIt.

Last Emperor arrived today from DVDPlanet... in an envelope. I figured at the very least THAT one would come in a box, since the damn thing is two inches thick, but no. Damage was minimal and limited to some crushing around the corners, but it could easily have gone the other way. I've still got Pierrot le Fou on the way from them, but it'll be a long time before I pre-order items from them again.

Basically the boat I'm in. I've still got preorders with them thru March for the Warner and Fox Noir titles but I don't think I'll be bothering with them again til June's 20% sale.

When buying single Criterion releases, DVD Planet is often only a buck or less cheaper than Amazon (once you factor everything in). So I've never understood why people would want to endure the pain.

Coupons put it at a much better deal, but not enough anymore to endure not receiving a title until 3+ weeks after release date

I'm a cheapskate, so I always choose free shipping on top of the lower initial price, coupons and frequent buyer points. Bigger ticket items I'm moving more toward Barnes and Nobel though, which are even cheaper with membership and coupons, and the smaller items I think I'll try to do without until June. Amazon is great when I have a gift certificate or during sales, but I'm very unimpressed by a mere 25% off anymore.

To be fair to them (although I am quite pissed about Pierrot) this is one of the few times that I have had to wait this long for a new Criterion release (or any other release for that matter). I have been placing all my pre-orders with them for several years now and the titles usually arrive by the release date if not a day or two later.
