Why do I feel like this is going to star Jack Black as a down on his luck real estate agent who concocts a crazy scheme for buying property

No one fights for leads on Baltic. Some schmuck will buy it, buy Mediterranean, swarm it with hotels, and then win the game.

Zach Snyder's Hungry Hungry Hippos. The hippos are all beefcake warriors with an insatiable lust for marbles... and freedom.

I don't want to see commercials for another "Haunted House" or "Country Bear Jamboree" style shithouse. or Pirates, for that matter.

Monopoly could be a Gondry film where a man realizes his life is dictated by the roll of a dice and decisions made by a ten year old. Eternal Sunshine meets Stranger than Fiction meets Adam Smith.

I think I'll skip the first one and wait for Monopoly 2: Attack of the Electric Pearl.

Don't Break the Ice would be great for either Rivette or Chabrol or Mark S. Waters.

And the Pirates porno was pretty good, btw. I'll look forward to Monoporny.

The Black Hole

#434 Post by a.khan »

Cinematical wrote:Mr. Fincher has signed on to direct an adaptation of Charles Burns' graphic novel Black Hole. Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary, who last collaborated on Beowulf, will bang out the screenplay for MTV Films and Paramount Pictures. The Hollywood Reporter offers this as a plot synopsis: "The story follows a group of high school students whose lives are altered drastically when they come in contact with a sexually transmitted disease called the "teen plague" or "the bug."
The Publisher of the book, Random House wrote:Suburban Seattle, the mid-1970s. We learn from the out-set that a strange plague has descended upon the area's teenagers, transmitted by sexual contact. The disease is manifested in any number of ways - from the hideously grotesque to the subtle (and concealable) - but once you've got it, that's it. There's no turning back.

Fincher doing Black Hole? That might work. It's a brilliant comic and needs to maintain it's creepiness to work. Here's to hoping they use the 'before and after' yearbook photos on the inside cover of the trade as a poster.

What if Chico Ejiro filmed backgammon, the result would be in need of an Eclipse boxset!

Thanks for the template, Domino. This joking was very tricky without it.

Michael Haneke's Mousetrap could be an arthouse smash.

Quentin Tarantino's Trivial Pursuit would be almost logical continuation to his work...

He's a great choice to direct. Having read Burns' comic book several times I think he could really do it justice. I'm glad they got rid of Aja who was all wrong for it.

I always thought David Lynch would be a good fit too - I've always gotten a Lynchian vibe from Burns' stuff.

I'll wait until he remakes it for American audiences since it will resonate with us much more.

And in all seriousness, Variety is reporting that the Universal/Hasbro deal includes Monopoly, Candyland, Clue, Ouija, Battleship, Magic: The Gathering and Stretch Armstrong.
