PAL Disney DVDs

#1 Post by manicsounds »

Pretty much all the Disney discs I have are NTSC, but since I saw on Amazon UK that "Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse In Living Colour" and "Rescue Rangers Volume 1" were quite cheap, I went for them.

Unfortunately, Rescue Rangers is NTSC to PAL , and there is ghosting galore, and of course there is a lot of motion.

For the Disney Treasures set, there is no Tin Case like the Region 1, no booklet, no certificate, just 2 discs in a regular sized amaray case.

So question for the PAL People, are all disney animated releases blurry, or just these cartoon series sets? And how about the rest of the Disney Treasures PAL releases? Did they come in metal cases at one time or not?

I have the UK PAL "Disney Treasures: Silly Symphonies" set. No tin box, and no ghosting, either, that I've noticed. It's not a problem I've been aware of on any other PAL discs of Disney cartoons I've seen.

Rescue Rangers was a TV series, wasn't it? Old US TV shows transferred from NTSC masters often look less than ideal on PAL discs.

Some of the R2 Disney Treasures originally came in tins. (In R4 they were released in digipaks.) Unfortunately they stopped releasing them after the first four, so almost all of them are only available in R1's limited editions. :(

Germany got a PAL R2 Chronological Donald 2: 1942-1946, which the UK didn't get. But apparently Buena Vista Europe deleted some of the WWII anti-German cartoons like Der Fuehrer's Face.
