Trailer. This looks a little (a lot) more commercial than his superb Harsh Times, but we'll just have to wait and see how it turns out.

This movie looks like a rehash of Training Day with Keanu Reeves in the Denzel Washington role. And when is the glut of hip hip artists turned actors going to stop? Common? The Game? Enough already. Yes, there are the one or two exceptions that are actually half decent on screen but the rest are painfully out of their element. As for this trailer it looks like it was put together by a marketing focus group that essentially went: hip hop + hip hop artists + fast edits + loud noises = teenagers.

After seeing it, my original prediction proved correct. But, despite how by-the-book it was, I really liked it. I do hope that Ayer's next project is a little more closer to Harsh Times than this one was, however.
