Clarification in case anyone is confused now.
The Digital Bits wrote:Buena Vista Home Entertainment has FINALLY set Kill Bill: Volumes 1 & 2 for Blu-ray Disc release on 9/9 (SRP $34.99 each). In terms of extras, look for everything that was on the previous DVD versions to be ported over. We're working to determine whether any new material will be included as well. This is not, repeat NOT, the long-awaited Whole Bloody Affair version. That will be coming from The Weinstein Company, no sooner than 2009.

2 YEARS after the last "we're releasing this" announcement.

Jesus Christ, what's the hold up? I mean, I know the Weinstein's and Disney splitting ways caused a delay, but 5 years from when Vol. 2 was released?

This has officially become the Chinese Democracy of DVD releases.

I don't understand what it is about Kill Bill that makes me like it so much. It is weird, but I still think it is second to Pulp Ficiton. I wasn't as big of a fan of Reservoir Dogs for some reason.

I liked it too, but I wished he laid off the action genre for awhile and just gets back to more character-driven stuff like he did before Kill Bill.

Pulp Fiction was definitely his masterpiece. I think what makes him such a good talent is his writing ability. His dialogue is so sharp it is ridiculous. Pulp Fiction had some of the most perfect sequences in American cinema, period. The best sequence, which was flawless, was Bruce Willis'. From the beginning until "Zed's dead baby, Zed's dead" it was flawless.

-oh, and for the blu ray thing, it really is phenomenal quality. i watched the assassination of jesse james the other night on blu ray and it was simply amazing quality. the sound was so sharp and good it almost made my ears bleed. but, they are way to expensive to buy, i will just use friends until i can afford one :P

seeing kubrick on blu ray would be amazing though.

Didn't Jackie Brown take forever to come out on DVD too?

Tarantino is the guy who just recently finished the "first draft" of Inglorious Bastards -- you know, that war movie he's been talking about for the past decade or so. I would be less than shocked if the holdup is on his end.

My theory: QT is easily distracted by bright shiny objects.

I love Tarantino too, but Roger Avary had a lot to do with that sequence. You should read up on it if you don't already know...

I don't know if this means anything but Amazon no longer lists the Blu-Rays of Volume 1 and Volume 2 individually, but now has just one entry for the two together.

What a hefty price tag. I do like the way the films are edited currently and have no problem with them releasing them that way... but with no bonus features? Just Blu-Ray copies of what's already been out on DVD for years? 50 bucks is a lot to ask.

Have you checked the link recently? It's $39.99. I quickly ordered a copy!

We had a snow day in Seattle today (something that certainly wasn't mentioned to me before I moved here) so I watched the Kill Bill Blu-rays back to back. They're some of the best looking films I own in the format so far, discounting the obvious stunners like Pixar flicks, and definitely worth the upgrade. I can only hope that whenever Pulp Fiction shows up it'll look half this good since the DVD I have is atrocious.

As far as waiting for the Whole Bloody Affair, the split doesn't really bother me and I think I might prefer the sequence in the first half staying in black-and-white. Grindhouse, on the other hand, I plan on waiting for even though each half just came out on Blu, since the trailers were my favorite part of the experience.

I must agree - I got the Blu two-pack for my dad on Christmas, and was blown away by the picture quality more than I ever have been by a live action film on Blu thusfar.

QT says the Whole Bloody Affair is still coming, though probably not until after Inglorious Basterds is released at the earliest. A new seven-minute animated sequence for O-Ren chapter is done.

I would imagine they will release the same week Inglorious Bastards hits theaters, no? That's my best guess.

I doubt it. Considering he's rushing production to get Inglorious Basterds into Cannes, I would imagine he will be tinkering with that film until its release date.
