Mandingo (Fleischer, 1975)

This film, at long last, is available, in an R1 - NTSC dvd from Paramount, in 1.77/1 AR. It's a pretty barebones edition, but, given Paramount's track record as of late, the transfer probably rocks.

Mandingo stands with Killer of Sheep as the greatest film on the black experience in America ever made. Now if we can only get Coonskin on dvd....

I find Wonder Bar to be wholly representative of the Black experience in America. I hope that gets released soon too.

Have you watched Mandingo recently? :-s

...And racism aside, Wonder Bar does need a release soon.

I'm more looking forward to a decent widescreen transfer of Drum. Campy, yes, but a whole lot of fun.
