S/he might possibly say Fires on the Plain, but I hate to think what s/he might say about it.

great film. really. perfect. this is how a film is made. film students SEE THIS MOVIE and learn everything you should. ok listen up - the plot is too simple to be considered a FILM but with morgan freeman and jack nicholson it is wonderfull. OK. I recommend this film alot.

this is awesome.

netflix, la dolce vita:
this has commentary over the entire movie! I would like the option, but I want to enjoy the movie in the original form! If I want to know more, then I'll listen to the commentary- I was unable to turn off that setting.

I actually had the same problem as well, with the first pressing of La Dolce Vita. I could get to the menu, etc., but I could NOT get the commentary to stop.

From the DVDActive comments on a Transformers DVD re-release, user B B weighs in:
I love this film, just awesome, but Paramount has yet to even release 1492: Conquest Of Paradise onto DVD and they have no problem putting this double-dip nonsense out. Give me a break please and release the darn Christoper Columbus movie for a change will ya. The USA needs that one more than this.

Believe it or not, people on this very forum champion that film and ask similar questions. I think it was even seriously proposed as a "dream Criterion release" by some.

As part of the Ridley Scott: Rewritten History & Stolen Awards set.

The bonus disc could include a 3 hour director's cut of A Good Year

As long as the extra hour in A Good Year is strictly footage of Abbie Cornish and Marion Cotillard, why the hell not?

It could be worse - B B could have been asking for a release of Christopher Columbus: The Discovery or Carry On Columbus!

(The Columbus anniversary films of 1992 really didn't do justice to the historical figure!)

yeah, I thought 1492 was terrible, but some people truly love it.

I even heard that Ridley was considering recutting it to 3 hours.

Amusingly enough, Christopher Columbus: The Discovery actually made more money than 1492...

From IMDb:

Live Free Or Die Hard Is One Of The Best Movies I Seen In My Whole Life It's Action Pack There's No Part Of The Movie Where You Get Board. The Acting Was Great I Mean Bruce Willis Is 52 And He Can Do Movies Like This Still Is Amazing And Justin Long Did Some Good Acting To Plus Timothy Olyphant Was Great To. I Say Everyone Should See This Movie Its Amazing But Stop Action And You Will Never Get Board Of This Movie. So Take The Family Out Or Friends To See This Movie Right Now And See This Movie And I Bet We'll Love It. Thats Why I Love Live Free Or Die Hard.

I Hope They Make A Die Hard 5 And It Better Star Bruce Willis With It If They Do Make I Die Hard 5 (Bruce Willis Is God)!!!

IMDB.com on Forrest Gump:
Arturo Garcia Laska wrote:The moment I saw that Tom Hanks made a movie called Forrest Gump, I knew it was about some person's life, as all movies whose names are the name of a person.

This is the ultimate movie. It contains within it all of humanity and human history, wrapped around one special guy: Forrest Gump. Gump is clueless to this fact, he is just looking at the moment or forward, and in the process he changes history and fates of humans around him to the better.

I recall no other movie that has satisfied me as a human in such way as this, in both drama, comic and thrill, with a manuscript that seems god-made in it's completeliness.

Only a few other movies ever made, can get close to Forrest Gump, if you ask me!

One of the best movies in 1994. The best time I watched it, I was still a teenager, so I couldn't understand it well. And once, I heard it was on Top 250, I've decided to watch it again. So, after I've done watching it, it was such an excellent movie. Forrest Gump, an idiot from Alabama, has witness many historical things. And he even met those presidents. And he even had his own shrimping company. And Tom Hanks did such a great performance, he has never done such a great performance in any other movie. And Robin Wright, played Jenny, which was Forrest's girlfriend, did a great job too. This movie is meaningful, it can give you a special message after you done watching it. Don't spend times on those meaningless movies, this is the best choice for watching. My vote is ten. Robert Zemickis is great.

Netflix on Tokyo Story
rainbowman wrote:The film is visually stunning, a little too stunning for my money. In this it recalls a Bertolucci film, 'Red Desert'. That film was so relentlessly artistic it left me feeling beat up at the end. No question, the director is an artist and the show is well done. However, the piece screams propaganda to me. The US defeated the Japanese with a home front campaign featuring gross racism. "We'll slap the Jap right off the map!" etc. We had also defeated Germany and Italy. France was in ruins and the US took it upon itself to 'rehabilitate' its former enemies and friends, Particularly through the cenema. The purpose of this well shot and mounted film was to make the Japanese seem 'human', complete with family problems. This is a nice cozy Halmark hour that got really bloated. Not my cuppa.

This Jzapanese movie can apply to all nationalities and especially the older generation and how their kin should treat their family patriach as they get older

Americans made Tokyo Story, with dreaded subtitles, for Americans so that we could see how human the Japanese are? Goddamn propaganda machine!
