Ditto. Although my favorite line would have to be from when Barney wins the Springfield film festival, I think this was the episode, and he's at some trendy cafe and the girl he's with says to the waiter:

"I would like a single plum, floating in perfume, served in a man's hat"

Probably way OT, but I was watching a local news broadcast the other night reporting about an outbreak of the flu, and had the subtitles feature on my digital TV switched on. When the reporter said that people had "flu-like symptoms" the subtitles read "flu like the Simpsons".

That's from the B-Sharps episode and Barney's date is an obvious Yoko Ono parody. And the funniest part of that scene is what follows it being asked: Moe has that concoction ready to go under his bar as though it were a perfectly normal thing to serve.

My favorite episode is Homer Bad Man, which is just sheer perfection from the opening line from Bart as he's picking cereal out of his Lucky Charms ("Damn FDA, why can't they all be marshmallows?") to the final "Rowdy Roddy Peeper" sequence on Rock Bottom.

It also contains the brilliant news copter sequence with Kent Brockman:

"This is hour 57 of our live, round-the-clock coverage outside the Simpson estate. Remember, by the way, to tune in at 8:00 for highlights of today's vigil, including when the garbage man came, and when Marge Simpson put the cat out... possibly because it was harassed, we don't know.

Of course, there's no way to see into the Simpson home without some kind of infrared heat-sensitive camera. So, let's turn it on. Now, this technology is new to me, but... I'm pretty sure that's Homer Simpson in the oven, rotating slowly. His body temperature has risen to over 400 degrees -- he's literally stewing in his own juices."

I'm not sure I could pick a favorite episode and I certainly couldn't pick a favorite line. I'll single Kent Brockman out as probably my favorite secondary character, though.

Easily my favorite episode. Brilliant on every level.

My favorite line is Marge saying to Homer, "No I will not pay you 500 dollars for sex!" I think it's from the Pin Pals episode, but I'm not positive.

I watched "Itchy and Scratchy: The Movie" last night, and at the end of the episode when Chief Justice Bart and Homer buy two tickets for the movie and the cashier says, "That'll be 650 dollars" just killed me, especially paying so much for Dark Knight tickets. I guess I like lines about money.

Denis Franz's portrayal of Homer is one of the great unsung celebrity cameos. "WITH A MAN IN THE WHITE HOUSE?!"

Speaking of celebrity cameos, I caught the Mel Gibson episode in syndication and they cut out all the graphic violence! That's the whole joke of that scene. He and Baldwin/Basinger were the probably the greatest celebrity appearances on the show, as you can tell they "got" the series and gave the writers free reign to go wild.

It's a shame the Baldwin/Basinger episode didn't really have anywhere to go. It felt so centered around their guest appearances that the plot played second fiddle to the fact that two B+ level movie stars were making guest appearances. Although, the line about movie stars drinking Royal Crown Cola and Ray Bolger looking out for Ray Bolger are inspired.

It fell short of the most seamless and excellent integration of a celebrity voice as a focal point of an episode, John Waters in Homer's Phobia. Just pitch perfect in every way.

I didn't remember that Rashomon joke and had to look it up. Pretty clever, though I must admit I have a hard time believing Homer and Marge would ever have actually sat down and watched a Kurosawa film together. Anyway, thought I'd share...

Ugh ugh ugh, here's the cover art from Australia (which has matched the US releases' art thusfar). There's also going to be a Krusty head in Australia, and therefore, likely in the US.



Ugly coverart, ugly season. This is where the wheels just downright fell off, folks.

"Pygmoelian" and "E-I-E-I-(ANNOYED GRUNT)" might be the only passable episodes from this season, in my humble opinion. Notable (sigh) guest stars included Kid Rock, Mark McGwire, Butch Patrick and Britney Spears; all for no explicable reason.

Season 11 was the last season I watched. The Kid Rock episode in particular (not just his cameo) was enough to turn me off the show permanently. Though I like to think there are a few more gems than you mention (though you're right on the money with the Tomacco episode):

You guys are crazy, the food critic episode, the Mel Gibson episode, the Werewolf Flanders segment of the Halloween episode... oh but then there's a stretch of like mostly bad episodes after that, save the one with Parker Posey and the Moe gets plastic surgery ep. So 4 1/3 good episodes... sigh, nevermind.

Woohoo, the season where Maude dies! I'll still probably pick this up, as I will alllll the bad seasons eventually, as they move towards that $15-25 price point. But man oh man, that Behind the Music parody/finale was a lot funnier when I was 15...
