I may be biased, since Ken is a friend of mine, but I think his commentaries are excellent. He's also featured (among the talking Chanheads) in most of the documentaries and does a nice job there, too. He literally wrote the book on these films, with his highly recommended CHARLIE CHAN AT THE MOVIES.

I'd never seen a Charlie Chan film before but I watched Charlie Chan in Paris tonite, mainly for the dance sequence. I can see why they outlawed the Apache Dance, I was :shock: :shock: for the entire routine.

I've only seen two Chans thus far, this one and "At the Opera", which I thought was much much better. The Apache Dance is a stunner, but about the only five minutes worth watching. I love how the dance/choreographed roughhousing ends as planned (!) with

As if it hadn't been abusive enough up til then.
