In terms of announcement news today, Paramount has just set a Friday the 13th Uncut: Deluxe Edition for release on Blu-ray Disc on 2/3. The release will also be available on DVD. Also coming on DVD that day are Deluxe Editions of Friday the 13th, Part II and Friday the 13th, Part II 3-D (we're working to determine whether there will be Blu-rays of those as well).
Additional info from DVD Times:
Details are slim on the classification, but the Uncut status is backed up by an Unrated US Rating (instead of the previous editions’ R rating). Extras include:
* Commentary by director Sean Cunningham (on the WB international version - trying to access*)
* Fresh Cuts: New Tales from "Friday the 13th"
* Man Behind the Legacy: Sean S. Cunningham
* Friday the 13th - Special Reunion
* Lost Tales from Camp Blood - Part 1
* Theatrical Trailer - Used on 2004 release
*The wording used here would suggest Paramount are trying to gain approval to use the commentary found on the Warner international DVD releases.
Also released are new Deluxe Editions of Friday the 13th Part 2 and Friday the 13th Part 3 3D. Introducing the Jason we all know and love, these discs are R rated and offer the following extras…
Friday the 13th Part 2
* Inside Crystal Lake Memories
* Horror Convention
* Lost Tales from Camp Blood - Part 2
* Slasher Films: Going for the Jugular
* Jason Trivia Track (text)
* Jason Forever - Used on 2004 release/Best Buy bonus disc
* Theatrical Trailer - Used on 2004 release
Friday the 13th Part 3 3D - No extras listed / extras TBC.
The specs have just been listed on http://www.thedigitalbits.com for today. Looks like Paramount did indeed get their hands on the Sean Cunningham commentary and there appears to be an additional featurette as well.
Not to shit on the little bride and groom decoration on the wedding cake, but... aren't these movies pieces of utter, unredeemable shit that were knocked off in the 80s by some grubby little exec? As a teenager, I watched this crap and many other horror films with relish, but a few years ago, I tried to watch some of the Friday the 13th movies and they test the patience of the will like a motherfucker, I feel. But then again, I just HATE movies like that nowadays - even when I see them for FREE on TV, so the concept of paying ANY amount of money for them, let alone $20-50 is egregiously ridiculous to my being. I have vacations in Amsterdam and Dublin coming up, both shoe-ins for a good time, I'm sure you all agree. What an odd culture we have created for ourselves - nostalgia for pieces-of-shit 1980s light-gore movies? Oooh, oooh, they are UNCUT? Oooooh! I'm 29 in June, you might be 47 in April and your in a tiz 'cause the 5th sequel to a Jason movie is finally being presented as it was intended! I don't mean to rag of you, but this shit is funny to a cheerfully cynical pragmatist like me.
Our cultures are hilarious, though, right? Overly-intellectual feckless President at the helm of the U.S.S. Buttfuck, poison in the air, an economic catacylsm imminent and a shitty 5-day, 40-hour+ week lurking like a black beast of burden in the Monday Canyons yonder. We're like survivors on a raft lapping up seawater. Each saltly slurp makes us yearn for more.
The best part of watching the Friday the 13th movies is looking up Jason fan-tributes on youtube afterwards and watching their re-edits improve the timing.

domino harvey wrote:No, I'm pretty sure the best thing to ever come out of Friday the 13th existing was the presumably inebriated Person's response above.
In that case, I'd like to say to Person the same thing Cronenberg said to Patrick MgGoohan: "Keep drinking"
