I got it from Netflix, and I don't recall it being near as bad as VHS quality. Certainly not up to Criterion's lofty standards, or even Kino's sub-par standards, but still above VHS and Facets.

Don't know what VHS's you watch, but to each his own.

If this is about image quality (and you haven't already got it), the R4 version is in widescreen.

Oh wow, I've been holding out on seeing the film because I refuse to watch cropped films, so this is excellent news!

Indeed! I do not understand why Warners won't re-release the film. Talking Heads still have plenty of fans, and Byrne arguably has both fans of the band and fans of his solo music/art that would buy the film.

Properly framed or not, the movie is way better than the album was. Really, the last two Talking Heads albums were terrible.

Naked is one of their very best.

Wow, that's a nice looking Eclipse box.

And have you guys ever thought of not linking directly off of the site? Just cause...y'know.

The Shumizu Eclipse set has the same contents as the Shochiku set (Vol.1), and likely the same transfers, but probably at one-third the price or less.

Really? I guess it's never too early to get that sweet, sweet presale cash from those of us in the obsessive compulsive crowd.

The URL for The Last Metro:

Code: Select all

http://criterion_production.s3.amazonaws.com/release_images/1945/462_box_348x490.jpg
I don't feel bad about hotlinking to an Amazon site.

I hope those are actual die-cut holes and Wacky C on a sleeve for the cover of The Last Metro, with a digipak or keepcase that slides out to reveal the image.

That makes total sense; Depardieu is almost certainly hidden behind the curtain.

Speaking of Depardieu, is it possible that we're getting Danton and The Last Metro at the same time due to his involvement with both discs?
